Decat??

Im booked into stainless creations in falkirk on friday of next week for a custom exhaust system to be fitted. it will be basically a straight pipe from the cat to the back box and have a rolled tailpipe going on like the sierra cosworths used to sport. question is im not sure wether to get a silencer decat or a straight pipe decat pipe for it? im going to wait until i drive it and see how loud it is but iv also got a manifold to be fitted once its repaired so im hoping for it to be loud but possibly fit a silencer into the decat so it cuts the rasp down a bit. what you guys think would be best?
 
Buy a high flow cat. No silencer needed that can restrict gas flow, but has pretty much the same flow as a decat. And it dampens the sound, takes out the raspiness.
 
Get a straight pipe decat and tailor the REST of the system to suit your needs sound-wise.
 
kerrs would sound shite on my car, like it does on wilsons, im going to get a straight pipe if its too loud ill get a silencer put in.

Don't buy a straight bit of pipe buy one with a baffle. SIMPLE

No they don't as it still depends on the rest of the exhaust, been a few cases where I've still had rasp with a baffled decat. Straight through is better as it doesn't cause turbulence and back-pressure, the mid silencer and back box should do this and keep it quiet etc...
 
i now have my exhaust fitted,and iv purchased a spoon replica manifold but the next question is, due to my car being the facelift is the cat longer than the 96-98 model? as thats the last thing i need to get exhaust wise
 
Having had a straight decat fitted with my Twinloop i can only conclude that they sound garbage....:angry2:

Totally ruined the sweet note the twinloop is famed for.....:nono:

Perhaps a baffled decat is better & a hiflow works to stop the rasp for sure....(from experience)

I'll 2nd that! same happened with my Tanabe SMR, it ruined the sweet not it had!

Why did you get a spoon rep mani ya plum when I was gona sell you that HKS mani which would have been much better imo?!!:((

how does the exhaust sound and look anyway? get sum pics up punk!:p

Cat the same length pre and post facelift :nice:
