Decat Pipe Size - Is 2" Pipe Bore To Small For EK9?

I've noticed a fair bit of users using a decat/testpipe that is non-resonated.

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that price can obviously be kept low and also the shipping weight as well as the mounted weight on the car.

However, I feel that the exhaust note can often be very raspy/crackling and boomy with a decat shown by VTI_EG_DAN

I am using something similar to this:

In my experience, especially with N1 type exhausts, the sound LEVEL is decreased slightly, but the sound QUALITY and TONE is far superior to that of just a straight decat pipe. I suppose I could describe it as "smoother."

Perhaps not the best example, but I think it sounds pretty good albeit it might be a little too much for most owners here:

I'd love to get my hands on one of these beauties, do you know where I could get hold of one?

Have seen this (bottom of page) but am not sure if its gonna produce that same beautiful tone as in the vid above, gettin fed up on the outright loudness of my straight through decat :angry2:

Japshop Civic 96-00 DE-CAT

why not just get yourself a universal silencer with 2.5" bore and get it welded in to you straight through de cat.

Is it me or is the sound all distorted on that video. Therefore the exhaust acutally sounds nothin like that in real life. Plus for an APEXi N1, that vid sounds nothing like it?

Yes Dan, the bottom one.

is it baffled? if it is keep an eye on it, had one from japshop and all the wadding blew out of the baffle box and it became like a expansion chamber and slowed the car down.

if you tap it with a spanner and it rings like a bell then the wadding has blown out,
hopefully it will stay in there tho:nice:

I definetly need to get me self one of these i think. I have a full Spoon system, manifold, b pipe and n1 but i have a DC Sports decat pipe and i feel its just to raspy and cracking like you say.

Where can i puchase one of these in the UK and for how much?
