Close gear setup for a EK9

What do you guys think of this setup:

1st 3.070
3rd 1.625
4th 1.296

With stock 4.4 final drive & OEM 2nd and 5th.

The car will have, aftermarket intake, header, exhaust and ecu :nice:

Do you think this is a good setup for a B16B?

Can this setup be also used on a B18C? :nono:

Im going to really look into some research behind final drives and gears etc. If the lad who's selling the spoon stroked '9 doesnt split then I will be looking at this mod after brakes.

Just to start off how realistic do you think a budget of £2000 is? Bearing in mind thats for the components and fitting (Recondition) because I wont attempt this myself!

Of course I, like many others, only have MFactory in mind. I will be looking at final drives, possibly a different LSD, semi-helical gears and syncros etc.

Advice or links would be much appreciated, also things to look out for?

Hey Josh,

I've just ordered a close ratio gear set from Mfactory 1,3,4,5 and FD. 3-5 with the carbon moly syncros and all with WPC treatment. I think you should talk to Mfactory about any questions and advice. It all depends on your setup and how you plan to use the car (Track days, 1/4 mile ect). £2000 would be enough - However sending your gearbox over to america would cost a bomb, dont forget custom on the way back ;). Think it has to be shipped on a pallet due to its size. Hope this has helped :nice:

Try using s80 gearbox with an s4c 4th and 5th. Feels great and half the price of aftermarket parts

Nice! You'll have to give us a review + some vids etc to show the differences. I will be using the car daily with around 5 trackdays a year so i'll be keeping the 5th gear around the same for economy. [/QUOTE]

And how long are the parts going to take delivery wise?
And :p where do you plan on getting the new gears fitted?
