Cleaning the engine!

Ok, so the engine of my car i get on friday is pretty dirty! What do you guys recommend to clean my engine bay?

My mechanic has a machine which sprays the engine bay with a special liquid after the service. This is the best you can do!

I have used a jet wash.

It works well.

Or you can steam clean the engine bay, but that has to be done by a very high powered steam cleaner.

i've got my gearbox out atm along with the intake... so im giving it some good tlc b4 putting it back in

Clean it when the car is cool.
Cover the alternator and distributor with plastic bags, or something waterproof.

Spray degreaser all over. Use a paintbrush and just go all over, esp around heavily soiled areas to agitate the dirt.

Lastly rinse off. Preferbly using a flow of water from a hose or scoop rather than spraying.

Engine cleaner spray and a stiff plastic brush for the block, and simple green for the other stuff. Pressure washers also come in handy.
