Civic EG6 SIR2 overhaul.

I wish I had the money to do exactly what you are doing, then i'd be on my car most of the time.

Really impressive stuff man, can't believe the attention to detail, looks like you are pretty much putting it back to "as new" status.

Thanks for the kind words guys, really appreciate it :)

Manned up today and got outside, well i had been on a roof all morning so thought im cold as it is might as well get on with the car when i got home lol

Balljoints turned up a day early so that was a result, so i set about fitting them

One ball joint fitted

Test fitted this one to see if they cleared my brakes as some people have had problems with the extended balljoints, all was ok tho with plenty of room :)

Bit pissed off i ripped the sticker when installing, looks like i used a piece of tube that was a little on snug side, oh well.

All fitted back on the car, just loading the suspension to torque everything up

My camera decided it was too cold and wouldn't function right so put it in the airing cupboard for 10mins to defrost so missed doing the other side but the brakes are all fitted and torqued up, bit blurry as the camera was still not right :(

Just gearbox oil and a A/F ratio system to check the AFR's then wheels on and go for a spin :) Could of got that all done but my knees and ankle are hurting from the cold so gave up lol

good job, all looks so tidy and fresh! :) let us know how the new ball joints feel as I fancied getting a set.

Love this car, everything looks soo clean and new and is all quality parts :nice: keep up the good work!

Thanks guys :) Will update about the ball joints once its been to TGM.

Well got everything fitted and checked over on friday, so took it for a test drive and **** me them engine mounts do make the car vibrate i cant hear a lot over all the vibration lol but sure makes gear changes better and heel n toe is much smoother with theses, cant comment on the ball joints as the GEO is way off

Gearbox oil in

Was so cold Friday i had -1 intake temps for a while lol

**** me mate! love the work, time and effort that has been put into this. so much detail has been put into every little thing, fair play to you.

Just a quick question:

hope u don't mind me askin but where did u buy all ur suspension components such as the bushes, ball joints, drop links etc.. and how much did it all cost?

as im fittin my 5 stud hubs soon but after seen your build its made me want to do it properly now so im going to re-new all the old parts so the suspension feels nice and tight.

I got most of mine from various traders on forums, thing is to work out what you want, then search online for the bits and find the best delivered price. For Honda parts i use Lings Honda Original Honda Parts | Honda Cars | Honda Motorcycles | Honda Power Products | Lings Honda

Price is hard to say as it depends on if you buy genuine etc.

Such a great build, Can't wait for more updates on this. Hope to see it in the flesh one day! :nice:

^^^ Thanks guys, I will be at Mimms and Japfest this year for sure.

Took the car for a good spin today and boy have i missed this car, love it ! while out i checked the A/F ratio and all is perfect, in the 12's

Car is booked in to TGM for the 14th then hopefully book a trackday at Brands in March with TGM and co.

Thanks guys.

Full spec is here

Cant comment on the ball joints yet as i need to set the car up first but i do like being able to lower the car more with out messing up the roll centre as much but need to sort out the toe arms.

Well Geo is done, car felt so much better on the drive home, them ball joints have defiantly done something, can really feel what the wheels are doing, hard to explain but it feels good and turn in seems to be a bit sharper as well so thumbs up for them.

Settings are:
Front camber: -2.20 Degrees
Front Toe: 0.00 Degrees
Caster: +1.60 Degrees
Rear Camber: -2.15 Degrees
Rear Toe: +0.20 Degrees

Front spring rates 12kg,
5mm preload
24 clicks from full hard
Rear spring rates 8kg
5mm preload
14 clicks from full hard
Rear ARB on full stiff

Loved the car so much today i wasted £70 worth of fuel must learn to stay off the loud pedal every now and then.

savage work man id say the car feels unreal to drive? underneath of the car looks epic ha

are the extended wheel studs hard to fit on the front? need to get a set myself

Cheers man,

Yeah it certainly feels a lot better to drive then before not that before felt bad either so yeah it was nice.

Yes and no, normally and the way i did it is you have to remove the knuckles, press the hub out, remove old studs, fit new studs, press new bearings and hub back together, reassemble. Some people have managed to grind a slot in the knuckle to allow just enough room to remove and fit the new studs with out removing everything.
