Car Conks Out Sometimes

With the cold, damp mornings my car is struggling a little when the engine is cold. When i am moving and press the clutch in (either to stop or change gear) and the revs drop should drop to idle, sometimes my engine just cuts completly and can have a little trouble getting started again. Only seems to happen for a minute or two and never happens when the engine is warm.

Can anyone help please?

Some new spark plugs might help but could be a faulty ECT sensor also

Only got new Denso's fitted about 600 miles ago. Will try and check the ECT sensor, thanks!

What is an ECT sensor? Engine coolant temperature?

Would an idle air control valve maybe cause this to? In second gear when im slowing down the car is very jumpy with the revs?

Sorry, thanks :)

Yes correct it's engine coolant temp. sensor. You could try cleaning the iacv(idle air control valve) it's located at back of intake manifold. Two bolts holding it in and on the bottom there is two coolant hoses. Best to take them off when engine is cool so you don't risk burning your fingers. Carb cleaner or the likes will do fine to clean it out. Spray it in the two open ports on the valve(side which faces intake manifold).

Are you using standard ecu?

I believe its a standard ecu from an eg i think

Thanks a lot for your help!

This is still happening. Got the iacv cleaned out a bit and also got the throttle body cleaned as there was some gunk in there

Any other idea's please?

Seems like it wants to try and conk out after a blast to, when i am slowing down and press the clutch in and the revs drop to idle, it sometimes drops to about 300rpm and then jumps up again, sometimes i have to give it a we rev to get the revs up again

What rpm does it idle at? I think adjusting the base idle will help with your problem. PM me if you need help doing this.

Usually around about the 800rpm mark when its warmed up. On cold i would guess about 1100/1200 or so?

I have a dc2 inlet manifold, so do i have an integra iacv or are the b16 and b18 ones the same? Also, the integra inlet i have has an extra pipe (think its of a uk teg) which i dont have and there is a plastic cover over the opening of the hole. Am just thinking that this could maybe be part of the problem?

I can try and get a picture tomorrow if it would help?

Seems to be gettin worse

Sorry took me so long!

(The we green cover is what i mentioned in the earlier post ^^)

That should be fine once its sealing the vac nipple. Did you use all new gaskets when you put the ITR mani on?

Ok still happening after throttle body was all cleaned out again and iacv again.

I am running an Integra intake manifold (i assume with integra iacv then?) would this be causing problems perhaps?

70mm edelbrock. when i start it for the first time and if i rev it slightly the rev drop to nearly 0 and conks out every now and again. but when it warm up its fine. the revs have a habit of stayin round 1800 to 2300 if i clutch it when drivin or if im stopped. i think it might have something to do with tps sensor. not sure cause i set it back to what it should be when i changed them
