Cams on my mind in my EK4

After a few lil races on private closed roads against 2 tegs i've decided that you don't get that much for the 3k engine swap. So after driving a EK9 and finding the vtec was much more aggressive i've decided that i may want to persue the cam route. I want a cam that has similar bottom end to the VTI but with the more aggressive high lift lobe for a much more aggresive vtec.

So a number of questions

EK9 Cams?

ITR Cams?

Or equivilant skunk for example.

Secondly what will i need to change pullys? fueling? Vavle springs? Retainers?

Thirdly LMA's? Is there much point changing these as i've herd a lot about changing for the ITR ones as they are larger?

And finally i know uprated cams allow higher revs what do i need to do to have it rev safely to like 8600? or where ever it stops making power.

Help with all these and recommended set up will be very very helpful as i don't know what to do who to speak to or where to take it to have the work done and set up?

Thanks in advance.

Ian

My money would be on a set of close gears instead of the cams...or at least a 4.9 final drive.

It is honestly faster in real world terms over adding the 15whp.... that is if you have some good supporting mods like a proper header, intake/exhaust and the ability to re-map the ecu ...other good mods to have would be camgears too.

It's the same difference in terms of doing it "properly" with cams vs. gearing where one should add an LSD, flywheel and change the clutch along with some bearings. Well...give or take a couple hundred quid. :p

ive got skunk2 pro1 cams for sale ,they have coverd less than 1000 miles pm if intrested

these cams are are in my oppion are amazing they inproved my vti all thru the rev range and power these cams work best at higher rpm

i also have adjustable pullys if wanted and much more search for my post in for sale section

3-4-5 close gear ratio mod, best bang for the buck than any engine mod.

i agree with RagingAngel but if you want cam advice ITR/CTR are a good option as well as skunk2stage2, for either upgrade you will need vavlesprings, retainers and a proper tune, assuming you already have a header and exhaust you should be good for 8600-8800rpm with all that fitted :nice:

i just fitted ek9 cams to my b16a2 a few weeks back. i think they are a very good upgrade noticed lots by fitting them. bottom end power is better the v-tec is more aggressive and now has power all the way to the red line. i was more than happy with the gains i got
