hey guise;

i m planning to upgrade my ek9 brake system to a 4 pot brake setup.

i've done some research and here's some info for u all incase u need them.

i m fabricating the bracket to mount the r32 caliper to the ek9 knuckle and fitting the r32 rotor to the ek9 hub.

**spoon caliper weights 2.4kg; Piston size: 42.85 + 38.18
measurement; 240mm(W) x 135mm(D) x 95mm(H)

will post more pix soon when its ready.

moon. great info.. i've been thinking about going 4 pot for ages now.
i was actually planing to go for rx7's caliper
my only concern is ... can my 15" rim fit those calipers... (like spoon).
it would be great if u could get info of the rx7 calipers

Excellent stuff, I will be watching this with interest. I fancy custom fitting Evo 6 Brembos myself...

good job man !!
these calipers are so yummy !!

but how can be fitted on civic's ??
i'm afraid that i can't use 15'' rims with these right ?

ehhm.. i m not quite sure if this will fit 15" i can ask my mech to find some 15" n see if it goes thru >.<"

but the offset is out issue there i believe. i m using a +40 offset. so no issue for me.

----------

actually; i tink it should fit :)

if u look at the measurements between the ek9 calipers n r32 calipers; the height of the caliper is the same.both the caliper height is 100mm.

the measurements between the 2 is

height : ek9 100mm | R32 100mm
diameter : ek9 155mm | r32 150mm
width : ek9 210mm | r32 222mm

the r32 caliper is actually shorter den the ek9 caliper plus; if u want it to be even shorter; u can actually grind off the nissan word; tat will free a few MM

its jst the width u gotta worry about. but since the r32 caliper end is curve downward. u might find a chance to fit them in :p

i personally feel that tis is a bang for buck upgrade to a 4pot :D

OPSSSSS... my bad..

the r32 will not fit ek9 rims; not unless u put a spacer i tink.

forgot to mention that u need about 5.5cm clearance between the rim and the side of the r32 calipers.

i don't understand... why do u need 5.5 cm claerance..... 5.5 mm maybe
but 5.5 cm is a very big number...

moon... show us the bracket that u are going to custom make too.

oppss.. sorry guise.. sed wrongly. wat i meant was. refer below.

after fitting the rotor caliper in; the part tat sticks outwards to the rims is 550mm.

sure freewilly; when the bracket is done; will snap some pics n post it up here.

so moon what kind of rims do u need to fit those calipers ? .. . what off set do u need?

very nice of you to share this info!

What are the depths/height of the EK9/GTS-T/GTS rotor hat/bell? This measurement can affect just how wide the overall track of the car is and in some cases, it may have to be spaced outward or it will interfere with the insides of the suspension.

Awesome information dude, looking forward to the results!

Some good info in there so far, interested to see how you get on with the adapter brackets and how it all goes together. If possible you really want to avoid spacers, but may have no option, looking for wheels that have an outwardly biased spoke design might help with this if not?

the ek9 brake pad seems bigger .......
will you use bigger mc ?
i kinda had the r32 MC n compared wif the ek9 MC, they look almost quite the same size and i will be testing with the ek9 MC first.

ehm.. the rims i m currently using is from r32 gts-t too.

ohh.. the rotor hat/bell i have yet to measure. didnt thought about that. my mech is off on sunday. will resume work on mon. but i visited my mech on sat; took some pix; it didnt interfere with the suspension. but the pix isnt so clear. will post up shortly.

me too ; cant wait :p

i m posting up the pix in awhile. but its not 100% fitted yet. i wanted to change my wheel bearing as well;; since it was making some humming noise.

i jst bolted it on n snap some pix. there was a car nxt to mine; so didnt had much space to take a clearer pix.

will snap more pix when its done.

pic by smackey from previous rx7 thread; i didnt manage to snap a pic of my ek9. i was told that the 2 original bracket was in the way of the r32 bracket and had to do something about it. suggestion by my mech was to remove it  and i was convinced that when i move on to a 4pot i m no longer moving back to single pot :p so i had them remove n a new bracket installed.

wat was blocking the bracket??

if u see the pix below; have a look at the back of the ek9 caliper; the giant piston is in the center n if u look at the back of the r32 caliper. the rear 2 piston n the casing is sticking out.and also a partial bit of the r32 mounting is in the way too, so thats the problem there. kinda got in the way. else i believe we could have designed a bolt on mounting bracket instead of shaving it off.

as u can see.. even with the new bracket installed with bolts the machinery guys was worried that the stopping power of the caliper might loosen the bolt over time; so after bolting on; they had the bolt spot welded abit jst to be safe.

now some pix of the caliper n my rims installed.
