Build B16b or stroke to 1800cc

Ive gone from 16b to b18cr and never looked back. the only thing I miss is the distinct bark when engaging vtec from the b16b. b18c is somewhat milder. but if you drive it daily b18c is so much easier to drive around town and highways etc.

yeah there is, boost, rpm, vtec, VE, etc...

That isnt a replacement though.

as if you turbo a bigger engine there is alot more power potential there. Actual displacment/stroke/Cylinder capacity is not replaceable.

yes it is, if you have a large engine, and a small engine with a higher volumetric efficiency like a honda b16, the turbocharged b16 will make more power per pound of boost and more power per CC.

Now if you want to saw "if all other things are considered equal (which is not 100% possible) then there is no replacement for displacement" then i would agree ;)

consider an evo which is a 2.0 with a GT3076R turbo needs 22psi to make 350whp while a b16a at 1.6 will only need about 15psi to make the same power.

I understand what your saying though, if staying NA you certainly want the largest engine you can get.

Ahh i see what what you are saying. I suppose in some sense there is as you say a turbo will throw alot more air in the cylinders then the actual engine displacement would do(providng the turbo your using is big enough for the engine in question)

But yes if there were to use 2 set ups identical then there isnt.

I guess it just depends :) soo many factors.
