Hi
I need some of your opinions on what to do with with upgrading my engine. I have saved some funds and have two options

Option 1

Fully build b16b head with uprated valvetrain and skunk2 stage 2 cams. This will include head work port & polish etc, and have all this mapped on crome.

Option 2

Spoon 1800cc Stroker kit, if i do this option i will not have any funds left for aftermarket cams the most i can do is keep the ek9 cams. This will be with a spoon ecu.

My aim is to go with the option that will yield the most power. If anyones has any experience with what i have mentioned i will greatly appreciate your input.

Many Thanks

Hi

As i have mentioned my aim is to yield the most power i can from the options available.
The car is a weekend car for me but is to be driven on road.

i say you do option 2 AND 1!! and then some gearing mods!!!

Lol i'd love to! but funds do not allow it:(

I was thinking option 1 and i am definitely going for a MFactory 4.78 FD once i have saved the money.

If i was you i would go for option 2 and the Mfactory 4.78 final drive. Have you already got the spoon ecu ?

If your going to stay all motor, you want the most displacement possible, why not just find an old b20 bottom end for cheap, rebuild it with OEM parts and RS Machine 84.25mm ITR style pistons, should be the same as the 1800cc kit or less.

Spoon kit.

New parts, more displacement, most power, less hassle.

And ditch the Spoon ecu. If you can't afford a Hondata, just use Crome.

I had the same options chose to stroke my b16b with brand new ITR crank, ITR rods ARP rod bolts and ITR 98 spec manifold. The engine has been fully rebuilt with all new bearings, piston rings etc and the whole bottom end had been professionally balanced inc the ACT lightweight flywheel and clutch. :nice: I already have a decat, fujibitsuo legalisiR exhaust, spoon carbon kevlar intake pipe with ITG panel filter and some ultra leads. Should be good for 210 to 220 HP at the flywheel with a good increase in torque which is what the 16b really lacks especially low down. Should get it back tues fingers crossed then got to run her in for 500 miles then drop the oil replace with fully synthetic and thunderbirds are go! :D Ill let you know what shes like when its run in, really missing my 9 its been 2 weeks of driving my works van and the family golf V5 :angry2:

Can i ask how much does a 1800cc strocker kit cost, Just the package to build it up.... Then obviously there is labour charge..........

How much does a crome ecu cost?

Crome is a software used to map the ecu. To run crome you need a mapable ecu like a 0bd1 p28 or p30 ecu. this needs to be socketed. and then a chip is plugged in to this socket and mapped using crome.
