My EJ6 Turbo Build

Introduction:
I got the car from shell in 2014 and slowly built it up, I put a D14A4 into it due to insurance limitations.
I was set on getting that 'stance look' due to the fact my car would have near to no power.
Now that I'm able to change up an engine, I've decided to do a turbo build.

I actually took out a 1.6 and but D14 in as it will be my first car insured on my own policy and as many know here in Ireland insurance is expensive!

Haven't been updating my build in a while but I'm updating it now :)

First things first I got mechanics sorted but didn't get much on that. Re-bled brakes, secured engine mountings, new spark plugs etc..

I got a Bootlid, Lights and a back bumper from a Coupe breaking near by

Then I sent away an old bumper for a respray and I was extremely happy with the outcome.

Fitting the front bumper!

I then sourced a second hand bonnet from Tuam, not to far from where I am with lacquer peel for a steal, clean as could be and sent that away to get resprayed as well. Bonnet came back just as good as expected.

The outer lips on the wheels were absolutely horrible to look at and really dragged down the look of the car so I went to my local motorshop in Loughrea and bought some sandpaper and also bought some AutoSol Metal polish from ieDepot.ie.
After much sanding going up through grades 400 600 800 1000 1200 1500 and 2000 and then a lot of time polishing I got the outcome I was looking for.

Although now the wheels themselves still need to be resprayed now to match up with the shiny lip..

Bought a grill from a local breakers and sanded it down before spraying it and fitting it to the car..

Still much to be done and have to polish the next three wheels, get an Sir Lip, badge for grill, get wiper arms etched and sprays, rear bumper resprayed, back windows titned, lowered on 40 mill springs. Still a good way to go!

Got some new parts from my last post.

Got a genuine Type R Grill from a friend of mine in white, getting it sprayed along with the new splitter I got.

I got a Mugen Splitter, dress up washers, oil filter, 4 ngk spark plugs, new manifold gasket and an air filter today so that should keep me busy on the weekend spraying it up and doing a full service :)

Also getting some spray cans mixed up and made to my color code of my car which hopefully will turn out good as most of the parts sprayed have been sprayed professionally to date.

Nice project you got on your hands mate :))....keep the thread flowing..not wanting to spam....but your mates VI RS in black looks the nuts...more pics plz....never seen them in black only white...

Got a new garage to work from now starting tomorrow so psyched about that!
Meanwhile I changed the air filter, spark plugs and manifold gasket.

Out with the old

Ordered some Japan Racing wheels off a guy in the north which should be here Tuesday. Very tidy looking wheels look forward to seeing them on the car.

I think I see coilovers in the near future :D

Haven't updated this in ages.
Its now been on the road close to three months and going well.

I picked up some ta technix coilovers and they're definitely better than springs. Takes back roads and roundabouts very well at high speeds with minimum body roll.

It also had a custom stainless 2.5" catback exhuast system which im loving.

Here are some pictures of the car now:

Now it's time to ditch absolutely everything I've done and start again.
The plan is to now make her a daily/track car, I've had fun at the stance life, get's looks and what not, but I think it's time to turbo her.

So currently as you can see in half the pictures the cars been raised in the front as it was just too low.

I've bought a d16y7 and have it stripped, I've also purchased Vitara 75.5 mm pistons which are now on the way from America.

The first thing I have to do when the pistons arrive (shipped yesterday with USPS international priority) is to get the cylinder bored

.5m + I'm thinking 0.0025 or 0.003 P2W clearance

Anyone have any advice as to the best P2W clearance? I want to avoid piston slap but also do not want to bring it so close that it causes scoring or seizing with high boost.

Got the engine stripped down, old cylinders, con-rods and bearings removed along with the head.
Spent the majority of the time labelling bolts

Have a quote from a local machine shop and will be sending the block away this week for a bore, hone and a decking.
