Hi guys my Civic Jordan is die for a service.

I've only had the car a few months so I ain't serviced it since my ownership.

Obviously the manual recommends Honda own oil but I don't know anyone who actually uses it, a honda servicemen also recommended me to use a branded oil as well..

I don't do track days etc with the car, an it is only used for fun at weekends if the weather is nice so not day in day out.

Can you guys recommend me some oil, an explain why..

Thanks for your time!!

Have you tried to search? This has been covered a billion times! Oil is like lots of other things - 10 people 10 different opinions. If you think Honda would sell you oil not suitable for your engine think again. I have been using Castrol Magnatec 10w40 cause it's cheap - my engine burns more oil than petrol so anything better would be just a waste. Got myself a new engine now so I'll be switching to something better. Millers oils have good reputation, as well as many other brands do.

plenty of threads already covering this in detail, try the search bar and start reading. you'll be clue'd up in no time. :nice:

I was reading a post from Honda suggesting 10w30 is fine for climates upto 30-35degrees.

I suspect the lower viscosity would mean more power due to reduced drag.

(Also I have the american book "xtreme b series tuning" and he proves the above on a dyno.)
