Hi guys have done a search and can't find much of an answer. Recently put ek9 valve springs and retainers and I have a set of ek9 cams to go in too. Just wondering is there other cams I could use to get an extra bit out. And if I can is it worth the extra cash?

Engine is a b16a standard bottom end itr intake and tb maxim works 2.5 inch exhaust mani. Also will be mapped on Neptune

Thanks :)

Buddy club spec3's are a drop in cam and toda spec a's can b run on standard ek9 head aswell I think,

Ya Taylor was saying that john just wondering what else is out the think spoon and Jun stage 1s aswell just want to know all my options :)

Remember that your on a stock 16a bottom end, so the compression ratio is already alittle weaker than a b16b.
You might find that your best to stick with the ek9 cams as a more aggressive cam may not work with the lower comp you've got.

head skim while its off, then you can use the hi comp cams??

Would have to be a pretty harsh skim to bring if up to b16b levels, if even possible due to piston/valve clearances etc.
I may be completely wrong but I would stick with the b16b cams and have some fun.

10.2 B16a2 to 10.8 B16B..

is that a big jump?

It is if you want to go for even more aggressive cams than stock B16B as you then really want even higher compression than stock B16B. As Jesse says I'd just skim the head a little bit and put B16B cams in and be done with it. Will be fun enough!

Give me a few mins and I'll work out how much needs to come off the head to get 10.8-1 from a b16a
Might be possible if you use a thinner gasket ontop of the skim but IMO it's really not worth it.

Oem gasket you need to skim just under 015"
With a spoon 2 layer gasket you'll have to skim about 009" to reach 10.8-1
Not sure how tight the piston to valve clearance is but taking so much off the head is bringing them closer together.

Quick google throws up you can take almost 040" off without clearance issues. On stock 16a that is.
Seems you could skim it to get more compression but ideally you want more than 10.8-1 to make the most out of a wilder cam.

Apparently Hondas limit is 1mm which is just short of 040"
But as I've said, a wilder cam will bring them closer together again.
