B20Z, will it take much abuse?

Yes a k20 swap has a higher purchase price but dont forget to substract the money you get back for your old B18c, a brand new after market header etc :)

Ive bee toldby others that the b18c is more of a track engine than even a built b20, others are telling me to stick a set of ctr pistons in the B18 and up the comp and it should see a nice jump in power...
I guess everyone has their own favourites wheter its k20 b20 or b18c

A mate of mine mentioned a piston that is real cheap that drops in to the 84mm bore of b20 and raises it to itr comp ratio.. think the company is YCP?? are these crap or good pistons anyone know?

sleeve your B18C block to run 85mm pistons

means with a B18C crank (stronger and shorter stroke than the B20) you can run 1978cc, so pretty much a 2L displacement

if you run closed deck sleeves it will improve the strength of the block bassively too

that is the only way i would do a 2L build, cheaper than buying an Endyn modified Dart block which is the ULTIMATE way to go 2L or more B series

the B18C crank and block is much better suited to track abuse than a B20 though, B20 has much thinner liners and the crank has a longer stroke which affects the rod to stroke ratio even more - hence why you won't want to be revving a B20 as high at all

hybrid racing adjustable shifter box and spherical shift bushes would sort a K series shift feel right out ;)

nah, but they are spherical ones so will have zero slop compared to the OEM rubber items

might get some for the FD2 some day

Tbh out of the box you just can't beat a Type R engine mate, why not rebuild the b18 as been suggest or spend money on chassis upgrades - bushes suspension etc.

Way less hassle of a K20 , plus you have a fresh engine out of it too... aye aye aye??

Just drove a k20 eg, I own a fully built B18C5 coupe w/close ratio gearing...I shelled out bricks of money to get it anywhere close to the levels of the OEM K20 na whp...aye?

In the end, the K20 build will net more power and torque hassle or no hassle, in the end its about power. I have had my share of hassle with my B18C build, so its not all smooth on the B side either.

This would boil down to personal preference...again. :|
No "right" No "wrong" just pick one and go for it!

So.. was your personal preference engine power.... eh..

My opinion ( or personal preference..) which I wrote earlier wasnt based on just power but reliability/cost/time/maintenance/running too..

But it boils down to personal preference right .. ?..

Your post was pretty condescending to my opinion too .. aye.

My post was not intended to be personal at all if you took it as being condescending, not the intention. :)

oK,
So, what would you guys think of say a b20, rsmachine pistons or ycp, to bring it up to jdm itr comp ratio or little higher?
No mad revs, just factory limiter... would it be worth a try as a cheapy build?

There is some linerd blocks on Ebay, but they seem expensive with having to px your old block
