Hi, has anyone had a b16a sir head onto a b18c6 bottom end before?

At first i wanted to do a b20 vtec but after seeing 'leek9' civic on here which is now sold, im leanin more towards something like that.

170ftlb of torque, thats so much more than a b20 vtec. What i want to know is, would it be much more reliable that having a b20 bottom end? Also is it true that the b16a sir head flows better than the b18c6 head?

any comments will be appreciated,
Thanks!

would have to recomend b18 as i've heard to many horror stories about the b20 vtec engines. As far as i know all vtec heads share the same casting however the type-r heads were given a slight porting job on the inlet side. I doubt the b16a head would flow better.

Built correctly b20 frank is better...:)
But what do I run? B18CR, cost less. lol

If your leaving the bottom end stock Id use B18C but if your planning on building it then B20.

Yeah im planning on building it, so i guess the b20 it is then. Cheers guys

i built my b20 and it cost a fair bit of money, i upgraded EVERYTHING though and there is still that little fear in my mind of something going to go pop! Built B18 would be the smarter option but i dont claim to be smart with my money!

Tbh to build a b20 or b18 bottom end is going to cost pretty much the same. hence why if hes building the ending b20 would be the best option as he is already starting with a larger displacement.

So do u use block guard? or even a crank girdle?
Also what do you mean by u upgraded everything?

i changed to 84.5mm weisco pistons, eagle rods, balanced the crank, installed a block guard, ACL race bearings, about as much as you can do without actually sleiving the block. The engineer and builder both recon its about as strong as it can get and would be confident in reving it higher than the 8300 that i have it set to at the moment. for the head i just upgraded to buddyclub dual valvesprings, spec3 cams, toda camgears and kept everything else B16A. Its running 100% on E85 fuel the past few months and im using it as a daily at the moment!

I like the inlinefour.com. Its like one stop shop for everything B series part. Do you work for them?

lol...no, I do not work for them. I buy parts from them tho, great place.
They are south of me in LA area, I am about 350 mile north of them...im planning a trip to see them in person sometime in the next few months.
