woohoo got the b18 swap all done. new ITR throttle body, intake manifold, 5zigen 4-2-1, b18c obviously lol, itr ecu and excedy clutch and fidanza fly. its mint and really pulls hard!. no major problems only 2 issues,

1.The idling. she had a lumpy idle (from 6000-1400rpm) now we clenaed the throttle body and changed the iacv and lamda and reset the ecu so thats calming down. just have to watch it

2. the voltage is dipping. on the RSM its reading either 12ish volts and than it spikes to 14V so im guessing its the alternator, so wwe changed that and it still does it, cant seem to think about what it is,maybe a loose sensor?

overall.. DELIGHTED

well in mate how long did the swap take , any pics? looking to maybe get tegiwa to do a swap for me

2. Not sure, could be an earth tbh

I'd never pay to get a b18c swapped into an ek9, it's the easiest swap you could get. Just use b16b engine mounts and torque mounts.

It's almost a direct replacement, no wiring, loom from the b16b is a direct fit.

Only wiring at all would be on a facelift IF it's OBD2B which would need a harness to revert back to OBD2a

we swapped dizzys and such, and yeah we are rechecking al the earths and making a new one!

Thats not a problem mate its a very easy swap.

Sadly i had to sell my car over a year ago now (i think lol) cos i moved in with the misses and couldnt afford it. So thats how you wont have seen me about.

Now im looking to save up for a 9 !!

Could be the alternator on its way out, an alternator on its way out can cause all sorts of problems, one of them being a dodgy idle.

it does sound like the voltage regulator in the alternator but unlikely if its same on both alternators, did you pinch any parts of the loom etc broken wire?

regarding the idle problem did you put a new gasket on when you changed manifolds and tb etc?could be drawing air.btw b16b and b18c inlets are identical.

ya were gonna recheck and clean all the block connectors and the idling is fine now, 1200 when cold 800 when warm, just right!
