Hi peeps! Unfortunatly the main bearings have decided to die :( i phoned honda and they say there colour coded? And i cant find any colour codes on them is there any other way to tell whats what?

Suppose the hard way with a micrometer to measure your crank etc and take it from there.

yeah theres a colour code chart but you can get the measurements on them colours online as a guy posted them to me but cant find them atm

Ok i found the colours! Very faint but i got them! BUT honda dont have some of them and they dont know when they will get them so does anyone know where i can get some after market ones? ACL racing ones? Big end and main

Ash, how did you actually spin a bearing? as rich says its important to find the reason of failure

sounds like you need to start again check the crack and polish or get a new one if its damaged make sure the block is ok then if you want honda bearings measure everything and get the correct bearings to keep the correct clearance.

No bearing has spun..... No.3 main bearing is scored and it rattled on cold start until oil pressure built up for a second then it developed a rattle under load ive caught it early so the damage is very minor.

Honda said measuring wont help, if theres no damage to the crank (which there isnt) then all you need is the correct colour code which determines measurments. Can you please tell me what crack and polish is? First time ive heard of this.

To obtain color codes you have to find references on your block, your rods and your cranckshaft.

Thanks to these references and a useful table available in the service manual you obtain the color codes.

The colour code was on the side of the bearings there red black and green

Yes typo sorry but if you've got a rattle then i would still have the CRANK polished and have it all measured but if you want to risk it then go off the marks on the block, crank and rods or just go for acl or other bearings and plasti-gauge to measure good luck

Ash mate use Honda bearings they are softer than the likes of ACL so if you spin a bearing it is only the bearing! With harder aftermarket ones you risk damaging the crank aswell!

Something isn't right here... I agree OEM are the way to go though.

Why isnt something right? Its simple i was just asking for advise.....
