hi guys, me and my friend recently bought 2 normal EF3's......just 1.3l carb engines. However we would like to modify them and do a bseries swap but we keep on arguing whether,

we should choose the B16b ctr engine, gearbox & lsd OR
the B18c dc2 engine, gearbox & lsd.

We simply cannot agree on what is best. I know that the gearbox on the dc2 has shorter ratios but I dont think it will make much of a difference and he also insists that the lsd's are different for both cars. He says that the b18c will be much better....any help on the differences between them?

also will the dc2 suspension and brakes fit ok in the EF? we want to save some money getting some 2nd hand ones rather than buying new coilovers and brakes ( we want 5 lug from the beginning).
And well I know that the swap is fairly easy but we plan to do it on our own for the 1st time. What are the issues we should watch out in this swap?

Thanks everyone :)

B18C is faster of the two for a reason. Is it better? Sure, I'd like to think so, which is why it is fitted to the Integra Type-R.

Depending on what year the B18C motor is, the transmission is either similar to the EK9(96spec) or varies in 98spec (4-5 is taller but also has a 4.785 final drive)

LSD is the same on both cars.

The ITR suspension will fit on the EF, but it will ride pretty rough and will also be quite high as the body of the EF is much lighter.

The swap involves going from a cable to hydro conversion of straight converting the cable pedal assembly of the EF to a hydro unit (which is a lot of work) You will also need a wiring harness converter as the EF is OBD0 and these motors are OBDII.

It would be much simpler overall if you purchased a 92-95 5th gen Civic. Then it is more or less all plug and play. The cost of the initial car may be more to begin with, but the time and effort you save will more than pay itself back during the swap.
