iv been reading around and i have decided that i am going with a b series engine for next season. i want to run high comp all motor set up. Now b16b or b18c5 with i/h/e was what i was going to choose but i thought that i could do a b18b/b20 vtec with i/h/e head work propper pistons nd rods for the high compretion and be fatser then the type r for around the same price give or take. My budget it around 4000-5000 CDN could that budget build me a reliable "Frank" motor faster then a type r or should i just stick to the OEM CTR nd ITR swap with bolt ons All suggested are appreciated

also my goal is to hit 200 whp reliably

Thnx

i plan on tracking it sum times sum runs on the street but mostly going to be my DD so i need it to be reliable thats kinda why im leaning towards a b18c5swap

i was thinking the C5 with gearing jackson racings air intake Hytech header myabe a bigger throttle body im going to be using hasport mounts aswell i just want to make as much power as the c5 canmake with bolt ons i dont want to touch internals 200whp is my goal

any other mods you would suggest me looking into from what i understand cam gear air intake, and header is wat i got. i also have a type r exhaust on my ek already will that do me well or hold me back thnx for all the help just want to get my parts list set so i can start this build

I hope the hytech header you're getting is not some copy version. Otherwise, you're better off with something from Vibrant, the 4-2-1 J-spec.

The exhaust is something you should upgrade, but I wouldn't focus so much on getting the vaunted 200whp figure if you're factoring gearing into the equation.

i was planning on getting the authentic one but it pricey if the vibrant 4-2-1 j spec will give me around the same gane for alot cheaper then i might settle for that i jst want to be runnin like mid 13's in my hatch i know its possible with the right bolt ons and a good driver

well iv decided that the only internal upgrade that i want to do is cams because one of my buddies is going to buy my itr cams. which cams work best with the rest of the type r valve train nd i/h/e

buddyclub spec IV exhaust
Buddy club race header
buddy club cams spec V
Port and Polish

Flag the Spec V cam unless you're building a real monster - your head will need some serious porting to support the flow, and you will run into valve clearance issues with the duration of lift you'll get from them. You will DEFINITELY need the complete valvetrain upgrade (springs/retainers) to support the Spec V cam.

I have a friend with a B18c5 who got an easy 200whp with Spec III with standard retainers and springs, with a standard head.

With a decent tuner you should easily get the figures you want - just make sure you can use the power.

Gearing is important too!
