Manos, I thought you already bought a Power FC?
I've heard about the S-AFC slowly gets overided by the stock ECU. So things could get messy, you should change it asap.
I have one as you know but not using it until I get my car tuned because the premap sucks compared to stock and my J's Racing ecu for some reason.
Anyway, What RVM said about needing to convert your harness, you don't need to as long as you get a PFC thats for your model like me. I have a 97 EK9 and got a brand new PFC to suit.
oh, chipping a PFC isn't needed because your tuning the PFC unit(altering). Chipping the Stock ecu makes more sense, but you don't need it again... You can just pull out the commander unit if your worried about the police. It connects the same way your keyboard connects to your computer. You don't really need the commander, its just for monitoring your car. And nothing happens when you disconnect it.
Oh, and if you tune it, you need someone with the software on a laptop, because tuning with the laptop compared to with the commander is 100% better as told by Apexi tuners here locally. This is crucial to your upgraded cams.
I know on ebay, theres 1 seller that has one of the very last PFC + commander units specifically for EK9 97-98 model. Its about 1000US delivered more or less. Seller in Asia with super high feedback.
I think I was one of the very few to buy the last in Japan. I can check Japan if you want to ofcourse.
But yeh, what everyone here says is true. your tuner is more important than the ECU you use, if APEXI might be more known in your area then I suggest it. Otherwise go with something that is more commonly used in your area, so your tuners can tune it better.
Youve got cams, so stay away from loading up preset maps.
hmm, I don't think EK9 can beat a JDM DC5R, I've seen EK9 with 1.8L tuned beat a DC5R though. But with a 1.6L, its difficult. K20A just pulls away in high speeds and don't forget the 4.9-5.1 FD 6-speed box that the DC5Rs have to contribute on their acceleration. You'll have better chance with a 1.8L
