Sorry i must be annoying some people now but a few things have become available cheap.

Here is what i'm proposing.

EK9 cams with standard pullys
EK9 ECU found one very cheap will give me 8500 rev limit to do this i understand my springs will need replacing so either EK9 ones or SKUNK2.
Skunk2 PRO inlet manifold

May be a spoon veturi throttle body......

And then use my VAFC2 to adjust fuel air mixture.

I have a spoon cat back, greddy manifold, decat, spoon filter, carbon/kevlar bypass pipe with a cold air feed.

I understand that i can not advance or retard the ignition timing.

Any issues with this set up please let me know but i'm execting around a 6-8bhp increase with this lot. Correct me if i'm wrong.:nice:

Also i will be changing the flywheel soon also.

It all looks pretty good. I would ditch the VAFC, but since you have it and have found an EK9 ECU for cheap, it should offer more than just 6-8bhp. More like closer to 15-20bhp - if you actually tune the VAFC on a dyno.

That was the plan, to have it all dyno tuned. I wouldn't have bought the vafc but as it came with the car i though i'd keep it.

Thanks:nice:

Maybe you can get a better ecu? suited for your mods / vehicle ? do you have a tuner? what does he uses ?

if this is on a b16a i would get a thin headgasket too raise up the compression a bit :nice:

If the VAFC is what you already have, just have your tuner tune that and you should be happy with the results.

making your own is easy enough and the headbolts, at least in my experience can be used at least twice, if the deck and head surface are nice and flat.

Otherwise, getting new headstuds is also a good idea.

cam gears will be nice to have as a thinner headgasket also retards the cam timing.

This is where it all gets a bit vague. I live in andi=over and i don;t have tuner or no of anyone who can do this. There is a place near bristol the powerstation but they specialise in scoobys. I've herd that putting 0 cams in brings the valve close to the cromn. Will i not get problems by putting a thinner gasket and retarding the timmings. All this scares me cause i can't do it and i don't know anyone that can. Fiiting bolt on items is easy.... I'm such a noob

oh i just thought will the ecu plug into my harness ok?? obd1...... obd2??? not sure what these are so thought i'd check if the 9 ecu was different. He is asking £70 delivered.

if that is your car pictured in your avatar then it's pre-facelift meaning it is OBD2A.

If you get the small ECU case, or one from a facelifted EK9, you will have an OBD2B ECU...which will not plug in IIRC.

You will then require an adapter harness.
OBD2 to OBD2 Conversion Harnesses

In truth, you would be better off selling the VAFC, getting a proper easily re-mappable OBD1 ecu....but ...well... you have to do what you can I suppose.

Like a Hondata ecu? How do i remove my VAFC?

it will work then.

I refuse to go on that other forum :p

VAFC is removed by well...removing it from the harness.

Are B16A2 springs different to EK9?? Just wondering if mine would cope with a 8500rpm limit from the ECU or wether i should change the springs and retainers??? I suppose if i kept my ecu the springs would be ok on a 8200 limit?

it is normally hardwired.

EK9 springs are stiffer. What was done years ago was to move the stock intake springs of the 16A2 to the exhaust side and then buy new ITR/CTR springs for the intake side.

with mild cams like the ITR/CTR, it should be fine. Some have opted to replace the lost motion assemblies and upgraded them to ITR/CTR ones too.

ray west at west tuning in thruxton is right on your doorstep :nice:

Also one doggy C@#T. Have herd numerous bad things about him.

I've found some skunk2 spring tuner ones for about £130. I've also had a thought about the ecu won't it cause a problem running it on my B16A2 as the strokes are different? Surely i won't be able to plug in and play to get to a DYNO???

And on the cams side what do LMA do?? I've herd people changing to TEG ones before?

Many people had issues there........:nono:

I don't know what to do about this ECU situation. Think a complete change will be best....
