anodize your oem gear knob using 9v batteries and coke

Titanium only im afraid.

talking of rocker covers, thats how i found out how to do it, i was trying to find out how this was done.......

its not just titanium. my mate had his rocker cover done anodized red.
also think of all the wheels with anodized lips.

Bloody hell man...that gear knob looks so impressive! but not as good as that cam cover :)

gear knob cost me 65p, i think the rocker cover cost about $1000, and its an oem one.....some kind of laser treatment

but yeah its an oem rocker cover, so made of whatever alloy they all are, probably polished before it was done aswell.

yeah alloy etc can be done, and you can do lots of bright colours etc, but only Ti can be done with coke and 9v batteries though.

looking at things other people have done though with propper dc supplies mine is really rubbish.......deffinately worth googling 'anodizing titanium' theres a few decent youtube vids aswell

I think that's a paintjob on this parts

i lol'd " i used diet coke, but i don't think it matters " gearknob looks pretty kl

Had another go today, taped about 30 1.5v batteries together, along with 7 9v batteries giving about 109v if they were all brand new (most were). Used about 100ml of white vinegar in water for the liquid (really helps actually seeing the colour change. With the higher voltage i was able to get through to some yellowy colours and lighter purple and pinky colours. also i have noticed the higher voltage colours have more of a pearly colour flip kind of property to them.

All colours shown below were done with all batteries connected from between 1 and 60 seconds.

I've put a few more photos of my setup on aswell, The big long green/yellow thing is about 30 aa and aaa batteries taped together.
