i have a 97 type r tranny that does not want to close at all...i tryed changing the forks, the top bearing, and i even tryed sanding down where the shaft bearing sits because it had a small lip and still it doesn't want to close. wat i wanted to do to the tranny was change the syncro ring i did that it came out fine but still...any advice?

take a look at the inner hub on 5th gear between the two syncro hubs as there is a good chance that it is on upside down which leaves the top bearing sitting too high not allowing the casing to close

Something must not be put back on the main shaft correctly. Trust me if something is not installed correctly on that shaft you won't get the casing back together and if you manage to force it closed you can bet it won't rotate. Strip the mainshaft back down and put everything on the correct order it should slip together very easy once right

Do not, whatever you do, use the bolts to pull the casing down. It WILL crack.

post pics, will be easer for me to diagnose your problem as iv come across it a few times!!

silly as it may sound but when we were doing mine, we had to heat the case up because it had been left off for 6 months.
