Looking to insure a ep3 ctr, with admiral at the minute and my insurance runs out at end of april, rang them up and currently they wont insure me as im not 21, althougth i turn 21 in may. Best quote so far is approx 1800. Can anyone reccommend a good insurance company who will suit my needs. Even for a month or 2 would be fine as my premium will dramatically decrease when i get 2 yr ncb and turn 21.

thanks

£1800 isnt that bad mate.

I was paying £2500 for my EG6 at 19!

Im sure I saw somebody asking about temp cover on here. Give it a search. Apparently you can do it by weeks or months.

Get somthing cheap to insure till you are older. Waste of money.

yeah i would pay that until im 21 obviously but i ring the company up and they then turn around and say they cant insure me because of my age. Two months cover would be all i would need. ill give it a search

I agree with kieraneg6 £1800 isnt bad... Dont be expecting the premium to plumit when you turn 21 either it didnt with me..

Go under your parents name on a policy of theirs. if asked, mention that you will be the main driver. Lower the average number of miles per year, go third party, fire and theft. Make the value of the car lower to obtain cheaper quotes.

I know people will slate me for this but its not against the law and its not fraud and the police will be happy enough if asked to do a producer.

the age where it gets cheaper isnt 21 anymore, it use to be but now it is 24 i believe

It should get slightly cheaper the older u get your right the age where it realy becomes reasonable is 24/25 depending who you are with

£1800 is a good price for an ep3 at 21, u won't find much cheaper than that imo

Cant have a policy in mothers name and me the main driver, thats fraud and it wont let you do it anyway. I might put the policy in my mothers and be a named driver until im 21 as i still have another car to use myself. Yea suppose the price aint bad but just getting them to say yes when you ring them up is the biggest problem, they just turn round and say sorry its not possible!

its not fraud to be a named driver on a policy, and dont say ur main driver cos the person who bought policy is meant to be main driver, but u can be main driver and if anything happens you are still covered doesnt matter, its like u say ur car is usually kept at such a place, but u wer away and it got robbed it will still be covered

yea thats what i mean, the policy holder has to be main driver.

I'll not argue with you mate, but its note the case with every company. Some companies ask the question 'who is the main driver?'.

But I hope you get something sorted man, daylight robbery is truely hateful.

yea thats what i mean, the policy holder has to be main driver.

No they don't. Policy holder doesn't have to be main driver. Even if they don't drive the car much they can still be a policy holder. My previous insurance, i was the policy holder while my gran was the main driver and it was fine. If it wasn't allowed then the insurance company wouldn't of put it through.

And £1800 for an ep3 your age is cheap as fook! I'm paying near enough that for my ek3. And i'm 20 with 1yrs no claims too!

ah right, every policy ive come across it automatically puts policy holder as main driver or it wont let you put it through if there not the same person. Sorry maffy wasnt having a go just never heard of it. So what does the price come off then - the main driver or policy holder?

Ive tried all this im getting quotes like 5k!!,, i been passed one year and im 20 cant get insured on my jordan :(

Best advice here.
Ever since i passed my test, i have given myself a limit of 1k a year to insure a car. If the quote was above that then the car was scored of the list. These people paying near 2k insurance?

Sorry this post isnt much help but i think you should look at other vehicles the now, because even when you turn 21 your insurance doesnt drop that much.

EP3's are actually usually more expensive than EK9's for insurance; £1800 is actually really good at 20/1NCB.

I found Elephant has always provided the cheapest quotes for me as a youngish driver. Have you tried them?
