EK9 Type R
Hi all - new here again although I was active here several years ago.

Thought I'd share my build (I believe I done so back in 2015/2016 but one thing led to another and the build is only completing now). It's a 2.1L B series amid a world of k-swaps!

The brief setup is as follows:
- Darton MID sleeved B18 bored to 85mm and o-ringed (all machine work done by Mazworx)
- Moroso 5.5qt oil pan and 4Piston ported oil pump
- 92mm stroker kit (BC crank, Manley H-beams and custom Traum pistons around 13.0:1 - the kit came from 4Piston with Wiseco pistons but we swapped them out for the Traum)
- 4Piston GSR V2 (I bought the V1 when I started this build but sold that and purchased the V2 recently....V1 pictured below)
- Full Ferrea Valvetrain
- Skunk2 pro 3 cams
- Intake will be a big v stack in the bumper feeding air to a custom airbox...then a Boost Logic stainless steel filter with 3.5" vibrant v stack to a 3.5" arm. Then I've a K-Tuned 80mm TB and Skunk2 Ultra Race ported by 4Piston + 1L spacer
- ASP header to mate to Speedfactory 3 inch piping. Muffler TBC
- E85 flex fuel setup
- Walbro 450 pump / Weldon A2040 FPR / Speedfactory fuel rail / ID 1050x / PTFE fuel lines
- K series coil conversion
- Crank and cam trigger kit
- Meziere electric water pump
- ATI damper
- 98spec DC2 S80 with 4.4 final drive (may be swapped for 4.7 at later stage)
- Likely to be running on a Link G4X

The original plan was to install the engine into my EG hatch:

However, after the build getting delayed for so long and with the car being left outside exposed to the elements for so many years, the shell gave into the weather and isn't really roadworthy anymore.

So I am now doing something that I originally bought the EG to avoid...and that is to install the engine into my EK9 Type R:

The EK9 already has MeisterR SuperRace coilovers, Innovative 75A mounts, 16 inch Regamasters and I have a FullRace traction bar waiting to be installed.

Some parts and engine pics:

As it stands, the engine is 95% together. I have yet to buy the fuelling components and a few other things, while the builder and tuner (ap-performance here in Ireland) sorts the ECU and the trigger kit and coil conversion.

Hopefully I will have some updates soon...now to get the EK9 out of the carcoon storage bubble and get it back on the road!

I believe it is the same one yep. It had a lip on it before I bought it. Sadly in much better condition in the pic than it stands now
Thats when Dave Lee had it. Back in 2013 when TheLowLife ran an event in Balbriggan.

I bought it in either late 2015 or 2016 just for the engine build. I still have the shell and trying to see if it can be saved but the built engine will defo not be seeing it...and nothing else will be seeing it for a long time if ever! a lot of work to be done to every corner of the shell if it is to be saved

Mega build , is it just for road use when completed or will it see some track time ?

Is that the eg thats up at Ap performance?

Mostly road but will definitely be seeing a few track days and see what 1/4 mile I can get out of it

Ha If you're referring to the sad looking rusty EG that was there, that's the one! Actually managed to take it back home at the weekend there. The EK9 is now booked in for the start of June

Yeah the dash and clocks are a cool feature. I personally have not got the time to try restore it but a friend is looking at it atm to see if it is something they might turn their hand to

Lovely build mate, looking forward to more updates

i need that header, you got a link please?

Just a pretty basic update as a few parts are slowly making their way through the door

More parts rolling in. I've got almost everything I need on my side now. I know AP Performance has the ECU and a few sensors got already too. Booked in for the very start of June. Lets see how close to 300hp I can make in an N/A B series!

I will be getting friends to mock up the exhaust for me and get it setup with v-bands. I also have to try get a 3.5 inch intake arm made up (they're difficult to find off the shelf for the B series) and get the air feed from the front bumper setup. I want to try build a lexan airbox around the filter so I hope make a mess of it!

Speedfactory 3 inch exhaust piping (It will be a sad day when my J's Racing exhausts come off....)

ATI damper (the street version to allow me to use power steering for the moment for the annual NCT/MOT test). I plan on switching to an electric power steering setup in the future

Really looking forward to seeing your results, what a great project. I managed 252hp from my 1797cc b18c engine and it wasn’t even close to the spec yours is
