Car(s)
1998 Honda civic hatchback
Continuing from the last post back in (2021)

-So after fixing my IACV and gasket on the TB making the car run right, and servicing her, I bought myself some clear tails FROM RUSSIA!
They came within 2 weeks with no fees

As well as ordering some clear side indicator units to match and got some coloured bulbs to make them legal to run

Easy installs and I feel they make the cars colour pop more against the brightness of the clears

I also did a small trade for a stereo unit from a friend for a haircut (I’m a barber) so this was handy, stereo with wiring included

Bought a cage and installed it no issues and got rid of the old cassette player with no face on it !

A little while after and I had booked it in for it’s first MOT in 6 years ! (November 2021)

I did everything I could to inspect and look for anything that might need attention beforehand

One being I had noticed when I bought the car a hole in the backbox so this as well got a new part to go, and of course I purchased a fat can with a 4inch tip to exit true civic taste

Took it for a quick blast on a local backroad to blast out a few years of shite from sitting so long before hand took the first pic of it out in the wild (1st pic)

It did fail the mot on corrosion of the rear sills/ very bottom of the drivers side arch corner but that was it, and these got patch welded just to make it legal and passable (plans for body work are in the works but saving takes time and the bodywork overall isn’t the worst at all, underside is solid luckily) after this is was a straight clean pass ! No advisories!!!

Not the prettiest of jobs on the rear arch there but it did the job and has done since

Straight away we went for the first wash with me ! What a buzz this was driving it about locally for the day and making it all clean again !!

Must’ve stuck 100miles on it that day just driving with no means and enjoying the car what a vibe it was !

Shortly after this I ordered an NRG short bosshub and quick release for a Sparco wheel I bought when I was 17 a eager to pass my test ! (This didn’t happen till I was 20 due to money LOL )

As well as getting shortened “jap” sized plates to get rid of the dealer plates that were on and abit knackered looking

And finally I managed to get a little deal on an armrest while my mate picked up a 98 spec gearbox from the same guy !

£40 armrest and seeing them sell for £120 a month later it was a steal

Didn’t do much but enjoy driving it for the rest of the year when there was no snow but come 2022 I had started buying some other bits, and got some neat little things for Christmas too (scale preface type r on the dash, keyring (didn’t last long) and the Honda book you can see, interesting read !)

I also purchased some **** stickers for the rear window and a debadged front grille

Soon after I bought some HSD coils and dropped it on its arse and turned the dampening to full send **** it was rough but so much fun

@Teggymun helped us out and the last bolt (LCA) snapped and the rest got chopped and redrilled we don’t miss that

Along with the coils I had to grab some LCAS so I hopped over to JAPCOM the next day and picked up some used Skunk2 ones to fit

Compared lows with cxm_eg when he was bagged

May 2022 - bought a new front wing to get rid of some rust that affected the wing badly and attended a “jap” manufacturer only meet

Was wet but great to be involved and make some new friends!

June ‘22

Attended modnats with friends and had a good laugh, great drive down from Scotland to Peterborough and made some mental memories!

Also picked up a front lip while I was down there (Mugen style)

Fitted it shortly after I came back up !

Managed to find the seller photos to compare to !

Started to see my vision happening for the car with that lip, made such a difference

Right after this I bought a rear wing (ricer af) the only way !

Had my eye on the seekerv2 for a while and I got one ! Unpainted and still is to this day but heyho! Body work costs money and I never seen the point in having mint condition paint on the rear wing and front wing and then having lacquer peel everywhere else

God it looks so **** ! Steelies and a big wing mad

Gave it the lines I was after with the seeker wing !

Also attended “Honda day Scotland” with her !

Some really nice Hondas showed up ! Very impressive and left inspired with what to do with my own !

July 2022 came and I managed to grab a really good condition set of EM1 wheels for the civic with plenty rubber on !

Grabbed them, put them on and got an alignment done to save the new rubber wear !

Car started looking much more respectable and put together

August 22

Purchased some climair winddeflectors, they are so so strong and would recommend them to anyone if you can’t get oem Honda ones !

Not a need for any clips to hold in place and much cleaner looking than cheaper (like team heko) ones

Also stuck a “Honda racing” banner across the windshield!

Because racecar backwards is racecar and so is civic

August/september ‘22 was nothing much but meets and events with friends

Only “mod” was fitting a tegiwa plate bracket to the rear to give it the ✨ tilt ✨

October of 2022 I changed out the stock midpipe for an M2 non res one, made it a tonne louder and finally sounded like a typical Honda

That midpipe still remains to this day as well, I have plans on changing the system once I get the bseries in her

Come November of 2022 the MOT was due in like a week and I suddenly heard a knock coming from the rear, got under and sure enough one of the bushings from the rear LCA had perished so instantly ordered a whole new set of skunk2 bushings for the arms and fitted them in the pouring rain after work one night

Ready for the mot the car passed straight with no issues or advisories what so ever ! This came as a pleasant shock but massive relief !

Lives another year !

As well as a couple meets and events again enjoyed and made more friends and acquaintances

Couple weeks down the line the clamp that holds the midpipe together had mangled so much from being pretty low that the midpipe just fell apart and had to do a roadside fix before I picked up a new clamp and repositioned it to not hit speed bumps as much

This was a sketchy uphill jacking and fix

Luckily just outside my street

20th of November 2022 I picked up my first set of “real wheels” !!

My friend cxm_eg had took his car off bags and borrowed these from Fraser at JAPCOM while he waited on his then Type X being refurbed

He told me Fraser had these for sale at a decent price so I jumped at them, my gf bought them for my Christmas! What a partner !

Set of Enkei ES Tarmacs (discontinued competition wheel)

Got them home, sat them against the car to see how they’d look and then brought them in and cleaned them in the bath ! a happy boy I was

Had the car looking much much better with slightly wider wheels and looking much more how I wanted it to !

@Teggymun gave me a set of rays wheel nuts to fit them too ! For some haircuts nice trade

Come the end of the year/ start of 2023 I got myself some PIAA yellow headlights for a more “Japan” look

Got a Halfords advanced 240pc set for easier working on the car

And another front wing as the car took a small bumper touch in Tesco’s and it knocked the rotted mounting point for the bumper so this would fix some bumper sag issues after that !

Also Bought the JDM light conversion for the rear lights from boltsbolts

At some point I can’t remember exactly when but I had installed a cheap short shifter that inevitably snapped hahahah

Along with this i decided to upgrade the shifter bushings to energy suspension poly bushes, great difference in how the shift felt !

With the cheap one I think the heat off the exhaust and banging gears gradually softened the aluminium piss of a shifter and it snapped off at the base, days after the snap I upgraded to a skunk2 duel bend

As well as changing out an unbranded weighted knob to a spoon sports one !

Couple weeks after that I decided to purchase the hybrid racing shift plate to really clean up the interior with the new shifter and knob !

Looks good
