Sooo.. I recently sold my Ek9, for no reason other than I wanted to take the next step and get an upgrade.

I'd owned my Ek9 for roughly 3 years covering over 30,000 miles and loved every minute, amazing performance and relibiity combined with the looks of white on white with red recaros.. More importantly, only recognised by true car fans.. Most people would pass it off as 'just another car'! Which I liked, a lot!

I sold it to a great guy, now on this forum whos treating it well with many spoon parts. It's not necessarily that I miss this specific car, but owning an Ek9!
I've had my current car less than two weeks, this Evo 6

And although its a great car, with 350bhp.. It has no soul! It handles great, goes like I've never expierenced.. seriously I'ts fast as **** But I'ts not an Ek9, am I being silly here?

Not at all mate. I got rid of my ek9 and always regret it. I now have an R34 GTT and although it is great fun and totally different to drive, I still miss the 9. I know at some point I will be back in one but fancy trying some other things first.

I know what you mean, the ek9 is - just another Honda - to most people, which is what I loved about it.

I would say keep at the evo until you get bored, maybe try out a few other cars and then get another 9. There will always be a load around to choose from. Thats what I plan to do anyway. I feel if I get another 9 now I will get rid of it again because I want to try something different, so I am getting it all out of my system before I get the next one.

Your not being silly at all. I have owned an R33 GTR in the past and was even thinking of selling my 9 to buy an R34 GTR but nothing feels the same as revving the nuts of that little b series and flying round corners. In my opinion you can't buy anything more fun to drive for the money.
I enjoy my driving and that's why I'm sticking with the EK9

not stupid at all

BUT

there are much better cars out there, don't worry

I felt the same once I sold up for an evo 6 aswell, they are great cars to drive but totally different from the ek9, there's just something about ek9s :)) so after 2 years of owning my evo 6 and a year of an evo 8 after that I bought an ek9 again :nice: but now I want another evo lol so best to own both

they are spectacular all round cars, the fact that 15+ year old cars can still compare with modern hot hatches is a testament to how good they are...for me there arnt many cars better

Im trying to find a neat facelift atm and struggling to find anything that fits the bill!

I wouldn't say a DC2 is better as such. Its different.
I had a DC2 TypeRx a few years ago and loved it. But the overall driving experience is far nicer in my 9. Now i guess this all depends on if the car is standard e.t.c, and its a personal view, but it depends how you define better?

If better means faster then the DC2 is better (like for like standard models) but there are lots of cars faster than a DC2 also.

yep, defining "better" is the deciding factor.
If you mean speed/power then yes they're much faster cars.
But as a package- reliability, looks(subjective), handling, fun factor and accessibility to modifications it's quite hard to beat.

Can't have it all eh?

I like cars with character, seems these days it's all about 0-60/bhp/nurburgring lap times.

An enthusiast knows, if a car makes them grin every time they drive it. It's the best car for them. That's how I look at it.

Agree 100%

driven some fine cars over the years, but the dc2 and ek9 are the only ones where the car actually feels like your part of the machine

i broke my EK9 and made 15.5k, bought my E46 M3 for 7k

the m3 is a hands down much better car

Indeed! Your comparing a sub 50k M car to 16-17k fwd 1.6 hatchback.

There's always going to be "better", personal preference is what matters I guess.

I bought a DC2 as I don't have a lot of tinkering time anymore, so I chose the DC2 because I wanted a car with little maintenance, reliability and fun on the track along with a whole host of other factors that I love about Honda's.

K20 Elise is a car I want to own at some point though!

My friend (who I bought my 9 from) had an Evo 5 previous & swapped it in for the EK9, saying the same thing as you!
