Hi folks just wondering what's your thoughts on white smoke coming from my integra only recently bought it a really good run there's nothing but if it's just heat up and u boot it it comes out quite a bit could be a few things but what's your thoughts.

Also my temp gauge is faulty when am driving the temp drops any ideas what i need to replace thanks

White smoke = water

Many potential faults. Is your engine consuming coolant? Mayo on your oil cap ? Water droplets on your dipstick ? These are all signs of head gasket problems.

Sure its white smoke ? Could be oil. In which case the list increases again, blowby, pistons, gasket etc.

Check your coolant levels and for water in your oil. Same goes for oil levels etc.

As for the temp dropping, could be the thermostat getting stuck open once it reaches temp. Could be something simple but I do hope some one hasn't sold the car with overheating problems due to faulty head gasket and bodged the thermostat to avoid over heating to sell it on..... just kidding but you never know.

Temp gauge dropping is more than likely a faulty thermostat. It is an easy job and cheap to replace so that's what I would start with anyway. My 9 does produce more white smoke than any of my previous cars, especially on a cold morning. This is due to water condensation in the exhaust, normally when I start up the car it doesn't smoke at all and it starts after a short while (when the exhaust has warmed up and water starts evaporating) and then stops again once all the water has evaporated. Not to be confused with what appears like white but is in fact blue smoke when you get it in VTEC and lift off, that is your car burning oil, for which there could be several reasons... Keeping an eye on the oil level with B series is very important as oil consumption is a very common problem.

Was about to say condensation, mine does it aswell after exhaust warms up abit.

You beat me to it! :p, also if it was gasket related, chances are it will missfire/not start up, you said it runs fine when warm so cant be gasket related imo.

Im thinking its condensation in the pipes along with jesse.

edit: Thermostat could be stuck open/faulty - not too much to replace though

^ yep.
When I took my exhaust off to fiddle about with the silencers the packing inside was pretty wet, so that's likely what's happening here

Yeah, replace the thermostat with a genuine OEM Honda part and start from there. :nice:
