What are my options when it comes to running a B16A2 in a facelift EJ9 which is ODB2B and I cant have any warning light on as its now a MOT failure

I can get my hands on a ODB2B civic VTI EK4 ECU but surely id need to remove the immobiliser? If so would it work by swapping the chips over from my EJ9 ECU and how easy would it be to do as im not 100% sure what the immobilser chip looks like on the facelift ECU so if someone has a picture id like to see it

Or can this bypass be installed on the EK4 ECU and that would bypass the immobilsier and id still be able to use my original key and have no warning light on?

OR... go with something like a ODB1 P28 with a B16A2 map? If the P28 doesnt have a immobiliser will that put the warning light on? This is the most expensive option so would rather do the others if they'd work

:nice:

Best thing to do is OBD2B B series EK loom, OBD2B to OBD1 conversion harness and an OEM/chipped P30. Will be the easiest way to do it. No immobiliser light either.

OEM P30 is the ECU used for an EG VTI so has a B16a2 map on it so you wont need to get it chipped (unless you want to map it).

yeah just trying to save money as this route is double the price of modding the ODB2B ECU

is the p30 any better than a p28 or both do the same job

Ah right, the ECU's have gone up in price haha! I got my OEM P30 for £100 a couple of years ago.

P30 and P28 are both OBD1, P28 is used on a D16 IIRC and P30 is for a B16, so try to find a P30 then you can use that straight out the box without having to worry about getting it chipped and mapped.

i was pricing a socketed, chipped and mapped ECU but yeah you're right, a p30 would be better. Any disadvantages of going ODB1 ?

Not that I know of, been using one on my B16a2 in my facelift EJ9 with the above setup for almost 2 years and its been spot on mate

If I remember the p28 had a baromic sensor in it, it could change tables to suit the weather conditions

Also remember hondata preferred the p28 over the p30, not sure why though it may be a myth
