hi all, i was wondering if anyone know's what the main difference between D16Z6 and D16Y8 ??

a few things that are different:

1) OBDI and OBDII
2) Intake manifold.

any more info would be a great help

The head is different, particularly combustion chamber shape.

Intake manifold is also different, designed to get more mid-range torque/power on the Y8 if I remember right.

:nice:
Y8 ftw

nothing is "better" they are pretty much the same.
look what is easier for you to realize - obd I or obd II.

so would you say it's better spend money on modifying a Y8 over a Z6 then ?

The big advantage is that the z6 has the "loved" by everyone ecu, the p28 by default.

Basically, the y8 has a better combustion chamber, better transmission, the z6 has better bottom end, (rods are beefier).

If you ask me, I'll chose the y8 because of the gearbox and because it handles better the combustion gases, also If I'm going to put it in a obd2 car, It'll be easier...

Another thing is that in my country I can buy a d16y8 motor for around 500$, the d16z6 is almost impossible to get it, and I assume that you're going to use this motor for racing..

Well you decide :)

thanks for all the info above much appreciated, i was hoping to run 200bhp to 250bhp out of a d series for track use, but still be able to drive it as a daily if need be.
