Hi guys, some of you may have already seen my car on the forum.. I have the Kevlar whale c*ck set up which seemed a good way of getting the filter away from the silencer which sits directly under the intake manifold, however, wherever you put the filter it's a bad place really - I've even installed a NACA duct to gain more airflow and there are ducts in the sides but it still gets very warm under the rear clam ... see pic below

I'm thinking I may be best getting rid of the whale shlong setup and installing some form of airbox ducted directly to the NACA duct. Otherwise there will always be heat soak.

Bit gutted as it sounds amazing but I just know it's not really the best thing for the car.

If anyone has a standard DC2 airbox they want rid of drop me a message, I've heard that these are as good as anything else apart from the bling factor? Obviously I wouldn't have a resonator, just a elbow to the box with a decent panel filter in and a flexible hose to the duct.

Then again - am I overthinking it... ? Yes there will be considerable heat soak when in traffic, but I guess when I'm moving along it's probably a negligible amount.

Enclosed box attached to a hose to the inlet of the NACA duct? So essentially sealed off from the engine bay.

Yeah that was my thinking

The only issue I can see with my current setup is a bit of heat soak but to be honest I'm unsure what the temp is like under there whilst driving as there is a number of vents, no doubt nothing like as bad as when the car is stationary so may not be worth the hassle. Would lose the noise too ..!

Yeah it's not likely to be much worse than the engine bay of an ek9/dc2
