iv just been to tax my car (00 ek9)

for 6 months i pay £145.75 however. I understand that it should be £126.50 because its Pre-2001 therefore the tax should depend on engine size (below 1549cc. Over 1549cc)

The reason ive been given by the DVLA is that because although my car was manufactured before 2001 it was first registered in the UK when it was imported in 07. Therefore its tax is determined by CO2 emissions.

I asked if there is anyway i can resolve or change this issue and they simply said "No"

Im guessing nearly all 9's on the road were imported after 2001 so is this how it is? Or are most of you paying £126£.50 per 6 months or £230.00 per year?

Were diff in ireland it's €145 for 3 months over here,

Vehicle age should be the thing. I believe you have been misinformed.

- Certainly was true on my skyline. 1993 car imported 2006.

Paid pre-2001 tax.

Mine is and has been for the last 2/3 years £123.75 for 6 months.

Well, on my EJ9, I just paid £77 for 6 months. I have noticed though that the cost on the road tax has been increasing year on year for mine (I have ALL the tax discs from the previous owner... all 14 years of them haha).

It's a facelift EJ9 year 2000.

Thanks for all your replys :nice:

It would appear my cars class is down as : "Petrol car" when it should be "PLG (private/light goods)" as its pre 2001.

Have sent log book off along with a letter explaining the situation so hopefully it can be resolved.

Althought knowing DVLA they will probably loose the log book and deny reciving it in the first place...

they should be taking tax from the year of manufacture not the date of registration. for a year mine is £230. been a slight increase year on year too.

Yeah thats what i said when i was at the post office but they said tey cant do that as the cars class isnt PLG therefore it goes off CO2.

Joke realy ive been paying £20 more evry 6 months for like 4 years now for no reason.

Yeah its ridiculous tax keeps creeping up yet condition of the roads goes down. And these lot in hybrids paying £0 road tax is also a joke. They still use the road same as we do, they should still have to pay something.

"Hopefully" get it resolved shortly...hopefuly

If it works for you I'll be sending mine off as well. Don't fancy paying a sizeable amount of money for tax ESPECIALLY with the state of the ****ing roads here in Yorkshire. Some of the "potholes" should really be called caves

You shouldn't have any issues with yours as its a UK car it should be correct?...

if your date of first reg and manufacture are correct and your class on the log book is "PLG" you should be fine :nice:

I'll be keeping an eye on this, the tax on my old 2004 Evo MR was less then my 9 :(
