Hi Im just wondering if anybody has any actual dyno information and hp gains or how effective the whale pennis intake and the mugen header are on these b16b's.can't find info on this.

:)) unless you want a finger wagging from the boss!

They suffer very bad from heat soak, I have one and I'm currently looking for a DC2 airbox to replace it.

Warmer air is less oxygenated(not as dense) resulting in less power!

Bit like an asthmatic trying to do a marathon!!

The mugen intake would be good but the "Whales *****" is not a great intake foe hp gains... It suffers from heat stroke as its using hot air from around the bay... You would be better for something with a cold air intake such as the mugen or other intakes that are similar.. A very effective and cheap intake would be the standard air box with a good filter and a good cold air feed set. Its cheap and will give you hp gains.. The "Whales *****" will sound good but gains will be small

x2 when i had standard airbox on my jordan,it was ok,no noise or cold air really!then put on a bmc intake with cold air feed and made a noticeable difference and gave it a really good induction noise

But cant you buy (make) a box to fix that problem on those intakes?? cause if that's the issue then I'm definitely gunna fix that lol :D

I've seen people make shields around the filter neck!

TBH I don't think it's going to do much!

DC2 airbox for me! :)

ive used a Js racing on track / road driving and never seems to have any issues with heat soak, performs better than my DC2 airbox.

I have a whale "tube" [lol] it's nice and works, [i changed it to the icebox and k&n carbon filter]...but does use intake air from under the bonnet, hot air. So if you are sitting in city traffic it will suffer from heat SOAK. [not heat stroke, lol] If you are on the track it should be fine to use.

A cold air intake, CAI is the best type of intake tho. you should consider a CAI instead.

Works fine if you feed it with cold air.
The whale ***** doesnt give the same response as the STD setup, but does give a bit of gain up top, and not forgetting the sound.

It does sound good I admit! But major heat soak equals loss in power!

It's a matter of fact, an intake that takes it's air from an engine bay will take warmer less oxygenated air as opposed to a airbox with a cold air feed! :)

HEat soak does loose power, but if its confined withing a well built box, with a cold air feed from the bumper, then it works.
