Want to now go K24

I have literally everything you need for full k24 build to the spec you want. It will all be for sale soon

I have a k24a3 bottom end end with a balanced and knife edged crank, carillo rods, supertech 87.5mm pistons, new head gasket, toda timing chain and tensioner, Hayward performance inlet manifold, skunk2 74mm tb, ported and polioshed k20 head with ferrera valves and supertech double valve springs, erl modified s2000 oil pump. Everything is brand new never fitted apart from the block need boring slightly to 88mm and it would need 88mm suopertech pistons. Cost me a lot of money but unfortunately I need too damp course my house and loads of other stuff. My current running k24 block in my ek9 is for sale to

Edit- I also have a set of used drag cartel 2.2 cams I missed. The Hayward performance manifold alone cost me £1100 with internal trumpets

Are you selling up completely or just the engine build? I hope the latter, your car is too sick.

I also have ARP head bolts for it. I was going to sell my current set up and see how far that got me but I think I will be breaking it. I was going to sell my current set up first and possibly wait until next year but if you want all my bits I won't keep them. It's time for a change I think

Thats a well spec'd bottom end you have, what's your opinion on the k20 vs the k24 you have now Jack24?

The spec above is for the engine is was going to have built. My current engine is a standard K24a3 bottom end with k20a oil pump, k20a2 head, rrc cams, rrc intake 70mm tb and 3" exhaust. The difference is the whole rev range of the k24 feels like vtec and it pulls hard from 2500rpm in any gear. I could leave it 6th and out accelerate a mapped astra vxr from 70mph. Mine made 180ft/lb and rising to 206fl/lb from 2500rpm. With the high compression engine i was building would be over 300bhp it would be insanc. On the way to the nurburgring I held a ferrari california side by side from 70 to 120 until he backed off. You should of seen is face

Hi Jack,

Sorry to open up an old thread. I am very keen on going down this route in the future. Your post is very interesting and I'm glad I've come across it.

I can see you have kept it quite standard power wise apart from a few things. TBH this is the kind of route I would be keen on as I'd be aiming to keep costs down as much as possible.

I know with the K24 that bhp is lower as you have more torque but less revs and this is what is attracting me to a standard N/A K24 build, I'd likely be getting Stevie at Grinspeed to do the build then Chris at EFI parts in Runcorn to do the tuning.

What kind of bhp was your build, was it around 200 using the K24A3? Also where did you locate the engine, was it here in the UK or the States? The K24A3 is the block with the higher compression ratio if I'm correct?

Can you advise of any challenges you've had with the car, has it been problematic in any way after doing the swap?

Many thanks,

Marc

Lol i just signed back on to the forum after years i see this threadis still going, i ended up doing a K20/24 high comp build i blew the engine due to hitting my sump and squashing the oil pump, iv just got it built again iv run the engine in, exact same set up running on the previous map which was 280bhp and rising to 215lbs or torque,

Pity about the sump but at least you stuck at it and built another one!

What sort of spec did you build the k24 to? What Cams etc did you use?

I recently had the k24 that I built mapped and made similar figures which I'm really happy with

I got drag cartel 2.3 cams, aftermarket valve springs retainers, 72mm tb, cai, rrc, skunk2 im, super tec pistons and rods, bore to 87.5 i think, and a k tune shifter box, i need to go get another map on it now and just tweak things up

Any piston slap on cold start ups on those pistons ? can't decide which pistons and rods to use for mine which I'm about to start building, your figures are pretty much what I want.

I'm using Wiseco 87.5mm Pistons in my engine and I had the block bored and honed to give 0.003" p2w clearance and it starts up like any other k-series

That's a well put together setup, I'm sure it drives very well!
