So ive got one more week at college the n ive completed my plant fitter level 3 course. Im sure my rate of pay gets set by what year your in Level 1 £cant mind, level 2 £4.39 and level 3 £7.12

When i was 17 i had just started level 2 at september time so i was on £4.39 then i turned 18 2 months later in november but i was still on £4.39 i thought that was normal but apparently one of the other boys who is now time served got a pay rise when he turned 18, my supervisor thinks i should get one so has spoke to the managers but as you would expect im bottem of there list.

What do you guys think?
Should my pay have went up from £4.39 when i turned 18 ?

I would have thought its illegal for a company to pay you under the minimum wage, cash in hand jobs they can pay you what they want.

In Ireland, I would reckon it similar to UK where you only have to pay a person under 18, 70% of the national minimum wage, so your first figure is just about right. I do believe there is a loophole to suit employers where you can pay an inexperienced person at 18 something similar percentage wise of national minimum wage and this is under the discretion of employer. Technically you should be on national minimum wage but this loophole suits employers.. I could be wrong but I experienced something similar with co workers in a previous job in Ireland

Asked again today and still the managers dont know :( i wish they would hurry up and find out !

I'm sure if your still at college and classed as an "apprentice" then they only need to pay you £4.98 as per that link.
And I wouldn't speak to your manager the person to speak to would work in HR as I doubt a manager would know anything about what your wages should or shouldn't be.

If your on apprentice wage they can pay what ever they want

When i was on my electrical engineering apprenticeship i was on £3.97 an hour
