Hi guys,

Having some trouble with 1998 b16a2.

Decided to add the following mods to my b16:

Itr cams
Itr intake
Toyo sports 4-2-1 straight through and decat
Itr valves,springs and retainers

- Problem is, my vtec isn't cutting in as harsh as it was at standard
- seems to be dying out after 6/6.5rpm
- on the dyno its only making 151bhp at the wheels
- barely making any power
- car has been mapped but still not running right

i have checked my oil pressure, compression, fueling, valve clearances, cleaned out my solenoid also tried CTR cams. And still nothing

What were your compression readings?
Where was is mapped? What did the tuner say?

The tuner is street racers in leicester. He says he's tried everything and still not getting any power gains. I think he said compression was 230?

Across all 4?

Have you got any pics of your dyno graph?
What ignition set up you running? Plugs?

No across each one i think. Everything is standard about from the mods i mentioned. I changed the plugs when i changed all the bits and bobs. Ignition and my leads are oem. We also switched over the dizzy from a civic running the same set up as mine and still nothing

He's away for a week and the car is locked up. No dyno graphs present atm

To me it sounds like the person who has mapped it hasn't really squeezed out the potential! Does the engine smoke at all?

The guy that has been working on my car at street racers runs a Kawasaki green eg running 9.4 on qtr, he said he has seen nothing like this.

Engine doesn't smoke at all, starts matter of fact better than what it did before.

Could a oil and oil filter change benefit it?

Another quick question....
Should I be running the itr fuel rail with my mods, I'm currently just using the standard b16 ones

151 atw is about 173bhp at tbe fly...so how is it not making standard power?

Check cam timing? Seen as it's worse after the cam change!

this guy runs a 9.4 sec 1/4 EG??

When was the filter and oil last changed? You won't gain the power your missing through an oil change if that's what your thinking?

I'm with cam timing too then.
The marks on the pulleys should line up with the top surface of the head - if you just align them so that "UP ^" is at 12 o clock one of them is wrong.
Bottm pulley has a mark on the lower timing belt cover and the pulley itself.

Surely the guy tuning it would have checked this!! Well.... You'd like to think so.

I would hope so aswell. But I've had experience with tuners that just want you in and out the door ASAP so skip these stages.
Either that or ignition timing? Or both. Something's not lined up properly, can't just be working one minute, change cams and made it worse.

Check your oil pressure, just a guess but may be restricting power, do a compression test yourself also and note the readings

Hi guys,

Thanks for the comments n taking your time to help out n try pin point, i did get my main mechanic to check the cam timing, he said it was bob on

Either way my tuners away so u guess i have to wait untill next week
