turbocharging the b16b, my turbo b16b build/log opinions welcome.

i only plan to run .5bar so no, i will not be replaceing ANY of the internals. i expect about 250whp at .5bar but i'll be happy with 230whp as i wont be changing my current exhaust (60mm). in my experience more than 275whp will need rods and pistons, the stock sleeves are actually good for about 450whp and the stock cams can take you to about 650whp.

whats the expensive part of the tubo build in the UK? i can get you a kit for cheap if you want, were revhards master distributor in the usa, i can send it to you as a gift to avoid import tax, pm me if you want any more info.

the whole turbo kit in the uk is expensive really , thanks dude i ll PM you, ive heard that the rev hard turbo kits are very good

damn, that sucks!! patience!

i wish that would help, but the situation just went from bad to WORSE:mad: aperantly there claiming the tag must have got ripped off (translation: box was stolen by employee) when this happens they take everything out of the box and throw it in a misc pile and send it to there main facility. how the hell do you explain what a 2 turbine housings, 2 down pipes, 2 manifolds, 1WG neck, 1 dump tube, and one upper charge pipe to some idiot over the phone whose sorting through a pile of crap? RVM you need to increase the amount of angry faces i can post because 20 just is no enough for this situation!

just wanted to give everybody an update, im still waiting for the insurance check :angry2: :angry2: :angry2: i should have it any day this week, once i have that it should only be a few weeks until its finished.

ok another update:

i finally got my insurance check (took 3 months) i re-purchased most of the parts, i made some changes for the better (you can see an updated list on page 1) im in the process of having a custom 3" v-band downpipe made once thats done everything goes off to get ceramic coated (it better not get lost this time!). i will keep you guys updated again as promised, sorry this has taken so long.

Good luck with this turbo build. I'm sure the tuners down there can tune the 10.8-1 compression on boost, but if you ever wanted to lower it you could use usdm itr pistons p73-a0 (9.7-1), jdm itr pistons p73-00 and usdm b16 pr3's would both give you about 10.2-1 compression. Also you should try to free up your exhaust as much as possible considering this is a turbo build.

Those look like some high quality parts!
Im excited for you. Hope everything comes along well, lets see the figures soon. :D

Having converted to the B16B from a turbo... I cant help but miss all the torque I had on my previous car.

luckily i do have a good tuner on hand, also i am using a 3" exhuast with no cat and a 3" DP so i wont have any exhuast restrictions :) thanks for the piston option but i really dont want to open up the motor, if i do im just going to fully build the shortblock with forged pistons/rods etc...

thanks guys, i hope to have it all done really soon, its taken sooo long. :nerv:

today i pulled off the oil pan to tap it for oil return and add baffles, i noticed some metal shavings in my oil :angry2: :angry2: :angry2: (a lot of them) damn it!!! **** fuk damn!! i think i messed up my rod bearings when i did this:
http://www.ek9.org/forum/showthread.php?t=422&highlight=gear

either that or my main bearings  damn it, im running out of money at this point!! but here is a pic of the stuff now its black ceramic coated:

turbo was going to be finished this weekend but now we have to inspect my rods and probably change ALL the rod bearings:angry2: :angry2: :angry2:

Wrong topic, but how did you get into 1st gear at 70+ mph? You'd probably have to apply a lot of strength to ram the gear lever into first, as the first gear synchros couldnt have handled that much speed nicely...

Definately a good idea to take the whole engine apart now, and certainly a blessing that you noticed the damaeg. Things going wrong after the turbocharging might cost a whole lot more in the form of a new motor, eh?

good luck man, i want to hear the PSSSSSSSTTTTT soon :D
