Hey guys i need some help...im really confused on what build i want in my ek4

its a big standard b16a2...

jus wanted knowledge on different builds and pros and cons

cheers

What do you use the car for? is it a daily driver or for weekends and sunny days?
what type of roads do you normally cain it on? if most of your drivings on B roads then your gonna want to keep the throttle responce of an N/A set up...if you do a lot of motorway miles then the torque of a turbo set up may be more to your likeing.

whats your budget?

are you willing to open the engine up or will it be a bolt on affair?

how many miles a week do you do in a week etc??

People may disagree with me, but I see it as,

B16A2 is good for N/A
B18C4 good for boosting,

I dont see the point of turbo on a honda, unless its non-vtec as you will completely loose the VTEC feeling once the turbo kicks in, set it to a low PSI may help but as a daily drive, N/A is best as I have found.

have you even sat in a honda turbo?

anyone supercharged a b16? I know its alot more common on the k20s and f20s but it must be a good compromise?

I use to have a B16 with a Vortech supercharger. It was amazing and you still felt the vtec kicking in

...you should, your always on boost with a SC. A turbo would be different.

welll i drive on mainly B roads but do a fair bit of motorway mileage.
i dunno about the budget yet because i haven't decided on what build i want, i mean i got a b20b4 bottom end in the garage and t38 turbo but just don't no which one to go 4,
the n/a route is fairly pricey but with the n/a build ive got pratically a new engine( i am going to full rebuild engine int and ext regardless with what build)
but with a turbo its cheaper and what 25% more power?
iand also i don't want it stupidly quick but quick
i basically drive it whenever i can cuz i drive a van aswell i probably do about 100 miles a week init

So what have you decided? lol
If you think a turbo is a low cost route, your going to be disappointed.

agree 100%! I would say n/a would be cheaper than turbo route but it all depends how far you wana go! Start looking at other builds and members rides on the forum and make your mind up after.

Both will added up at the end of the day , there both going to cost you to do it rite.

But as for boosted B16a2's f00king rock and mine aint finished yet :D

i haven't decided thats y i posted this thread obviously

Part of your decision process would be to "draw a line in the sand" by setting your goal for HP/Torque. Once you have your goal set, you can then compare cost to build both NA and Turbo/SC to that HP/Torque. Done and done...

...so what is your goal?

i see what you mean...
well put it this way my dads got an evo 9 fq 340 i wouldnt mind jus keepin up with him

i would like about 250+

Go turbo. 300hp+ and you should be fine...oh, and some really nice brakes.

I hope you can drive...cause trying to keep up with 340hp evo in a civic is suicide :secret:

B18 turbo would be your best bet :nice:
