Throttle Body Tapering

I've got a DC2 Spoon TB and it's the same exit diameter and butterfly size as the standard DC2 TB - all spoon do is Taper bore the front to 70mm for increased velocity:






Sorry no dyno results to prove however this is a well known mod and not something we've just made up - see above - Spoon claim 4-6 hp but I think you'd see 1-3 hp to be honest and better throttle response as you mentioned.

Spoon also charge £432.00 for their Venturi TB which is insane... LOL.

What we are offering is a service similar to that of the current Spoon TB which is only Taper bored for extra velocity (before the butterfly). This can be done up to 69-70mm on a DC2 body and less on the EK9 body...

What was the bore diameter at the exit point on the TB you had then - just out of interest? I always thought they were only taper bored up to the butterfly but have no probs with being proven wrong

Right... good to know. I'm not offering a Spoon TB replica though so it doesn't really matter - all I was referencing is that tapering is something Spoon do to their TB (whether they bore out the other end or not) to improve performance and show people that this is a mod that a well known company has done and that it has some background (rather than just being something un-proven).

Yes mate, got my hands on a EK9 TB - taking it over this weekend so they can make a jig from it. They are going to make a jig that suits most Honda TB's including EK9, DC2 & K20

Will get some pics before and after and update here when they are ready to go.

Got some updates on this guys, the jig is done (for the EK9 TB). Popped down to see the guys today and had mine done to show everyone what the deal is (apologies for the iPhone pics).

TB Fitted to the Jig:

The TB's are bored in stages to ensure just the right amount of material is taken off:

Next they are thoroughly cleaned and inspected:

Ready to go back on the car:

Definitely notice improved Throttle response but sadly don't have a dyno to re-tune or give any hard numbers.

Pretty much ready to go for EK9 TBs if anyones keen drop me a PM.

Yep £50 for the Tapering + around £5 to return the TB to you after it's done

Can also do other Throttle Bodies (DC2, K20...) but would be a bit of a longer turn around to make up the appropriate adapter for the Jig (Once one is done though following ones can be done much quicker).

Nice one mate, we'll have to hold on to it for a bit longer to get the centre piece machined up if that's ok.
