hi folks, when i bought my ek9 last year i was given 4x brand new ngk spark plugs, from what i remember they were pretty basic ones, not the all singing and dancing ones i see people fitting to their cars

anyway ive had these basic spark plugs fitted and the car runs fine, but if i carry on using the car with these plugs, can it hurt the car in the long run?

cheers

What kind of NGK ones? I got fairly cheap ones for my EK9. Weren't singing and dancing ones, fairly basic too. Think I spent like £12 from Opie Oils. Personally I'd change them every 10k-ish miles. I think you'll be fine

id say my plugs are the same as yours, they packaging look pretty bargain basement! i will run these for a while and get them changed

I bought them as I changed the plugs everytime I did the oil. I never bothered with iridiums.

I like iridium's, you don't have to change them nearly as often, reducing wear and tear on the head and chance of stuff falling into the chamber.

It's good to have extra plugs on hand, but only change them if they need to be changed. A visual inspection will tell you if they need to be changed.

mine were more like these NGK CR9EK STANDARD MOTORCYCLE MOTORBIKE SPARK PLUG | eBay

car runs well so i guess they will be ok

Like those? or are that part number?? Might want to make sure you have the right plugs in there.

If its a Type R then BKR7E-11.

Always gone by the view that longer a plug is made to last the weaker the spark will be over time.

Fresh, Cheap and cheerful good old copper NGK's every 4000-6000miles. BKR7E's.

Swapping spark plugs in and out, can in no way cause wear.
