I just read through the entire thread—great report, and thanks for sharing. I really appreciate the attention to detail.
Did you manage to find those OEM pedal covers new?

Brought my car down to Mondello not too long ago. I only went to spectate the lads, so no track driving as of yet, but I did book two days in August.

The Civic feels good, doing the speed limit haha. I'm not confident in the brakes mostly. I've compiled a list of what needs attention, before August rolls around.

• Brakes
• Differential
• Fuel system
• Cooling system
• Engine

I've generalised it because there's a lot... Less important parts are the exterior and interior. I want the car to look presentable at events this year. Right now, it's very rough.

I test fitted the pedal covers. They don't fit perfect, so that tells me the Type RX pedal assembly is completely different from the standard EK pedals. The accelerator is longer. The clutch and brake is slightly longer too, but it's barely noticeable.

I've asked a few people who have done this. The accelerator is my main concern. One guy riveted the aluminium cover to the stock plastic one. I've seen on Instagram, another guy riveted the cover the same way Honda would do it. I did message him for specifics, but he either hasn't seen my message or feels like gatekeeping. I feel like its the latter...

I'll figure it out! I'll also source the correct rivets, so it'll look as OEM as possible. My clutch pedal is really bent out of shape. I don't know what the previous owner did. The car did have Mugen pedals in the past. I'll either bend it back as best I can OR buy a replacement.

Please keep us posted about the pedal covers. I myself have a set that I'm yet to install on a EJ9 pedal assembly and I didn't know that it's not a perfect fit.

By the way, your car doesn't look rough at all, it looks very fresh after the new paint job!

Someone hit my front bumper and took off. My left side wing's paint cracked. There's swirls all over the car. Some etching from bird dirt and other things. I'll be doing a full paint correction when the weather gets better.

Been a few months since I last updated the thread Got this cover to keep the suede nice.

One of the best photos I've taken of the Civic.

Because we started getting nice weather, I worked on replacing this wing. The paint did not fair too well with the temperatures. You can see how bad it reacted.

It's a Taiwanese replacement panel that the painter was nice enough to colour-match. The fitment is ok. Tried my best to get the panel gaps even.

Met @JamesE-EK9 at this year's Hiro Racing's GunRun. Unbelievable car...

She looks extra shiny because I previously spent 4 days on paint correction and waxing Ireland is still experiencing a hosepipe ban until the 26th, so I'm limited to what I can do in terms of detailing.

The car has done 4 days at Mondello so far I think. I'm doing the upcoming MCG one.

MCG Track Day 2026

To prep the car, I lowered the tyre pressure all around, stiffened the coilovers and tried to remove the coilover covers (Zippers were stuck at the front...).

I got my custom plate from America not too long ago.

Unfortunately, after a few hot laps, a familiar sensation was felt. I had a strong feeling it was the distributor cap. Stopped my session and checked the cap. There was some of that white residue built up, so I scraped it off with a flathead. Went back out the next session and somehow the car was worse.

After a lot of fiddling, I gave up and called it a day. A new cap is going to be ordered. Hopefully it'll fix the car. I mean the only thing I messed with was the cap.

To not waste the day, I went out with my friend in his B18C EG6.

The car drove home fine, but I won't be going into VTEC anytime soon. The car will start misfiring around 4,500-5000. It'll climb to redline, but I rather leave the car be and not damage it further.

I'm thinking of investing in a DigiDizzy now. I hate dealing with distributor issues...

Car looks ace. Digidizzy seems to be the the go to, been considering it for mine for a while.

I did notice your rad hose clamp appears to be rubbing against you coolant expansion tank - may just be the angle of the pic!

Not much has been going on. I'm busy with a new job, so the Civic has been somewhat neglected. I've been using it to get to work, when it actually starts up. The parts to fix it haven't come in yet. Probably tomorrow or Monday.

My cousin goes to Japan a lot, so I always ask her to get me a fresh omamori.

The pollen filter was due for change.

For the second year in a row, the Civic was accepted as a show car at Tanoshidori.

Apart from the incoming parts from Japan, I did score these forged P-1s. Ideal specs for me too.

Another teensy update. My car is back working. I swapped in a new distributor cap and rotor. It's now 100% again.

I've been dealing with stress, due to my job, so I haven't got around to unboxing all my new goodies, but I'll show them soon!
