i have a problem with the car temperature if i let it tick over n warm up it will go to the right temperature n then if i go for a drive it will drop down after about 3 miles n will stay down n go back up again n back down i have just put on a new temperature switch and it is still doing it the only outer thing i can think of is thermostat ?

In this weather the gauge tends to sit lower than normal. I would change thermostat, flush coolant and replace. Also check the installation of the temp switch while your at it.

110 percent thermostat i had the same problem on my old ek4. make sure when u change the thermostat you give the system a good flush through and bleed.

111% thermostat. Mine was doing this, just put a new thermostat and its fine :) took me 20mins to replace.

Well said buddy.
Get the Mugen or spoon thermostat. its a good time for a new fanswitch too. Spoon or buddyclub on that one ! ;) Proven !

I would not recommend the lower temp.thermostat as it can cause more problems particularly if you live in a colder climate. If the car can't reach proper operating temp, it will stay in the warm up cycle on the ecu. Poor fuel mileage will be the result as well as accelerated engine wear. An oem thermostat enables water temp to be more stable all around on the street and track. Want better cooling? Do it right with a thicker radiator.
