EK9 Racecar

Nice one, top fix! Turned the boost up then?

We got it fueled upto 11psi after checking how the engine was fairing up with the issues weve had. All good on that front.
Kept getting a false knock signal so we left it there until i can make up some old school cans and/or figure a way to configure the monitor better.
Engine ran spot on the whole time though which was our main priority really.

Is that using your knock meter jesse?

Good news that the engine is running sweet, always 10p 50p £1 moment when they're fairly new and turning them up isn't it lol.

The knock monitor yes, it doesnt like the noise at high rpm. Going to give the oldschool cans a shot aswell as afew different configurations on the monitor. Although thats a test to do on my car first.

Thanks everyone for all the help!

Update, I was struggling with getting my oil up to temperature so I decided to re fit the standard oil cooler/heater. I read that you need to think of the oem (cooler) as more of a heater. Now it's fitted it's done wonders for my oil temps :))
Sod's law though it was about time something should go wrong, my coolant thermostat decided to stick shut!
Took it out and put it in boiling water and sure enough barely opened, I've taken it out completely now and monitoring the coolant temp it was perfectly fine so I'll leave it out!

New intake location.....

The car really likes the cool air!

Had a great time in it yesterday with the lovely weather we've had.
More tuning soon and I'll hopefully see you all at Japfest!
Going to book another track day soon

Do you run a thermostatic take off for the oil cooler?

Just watch out running no coolant thermostat, sometimes coolant can pass through the system that quick it doesn't actually cool, and the engine overheats!

Yeh I have a thermostatic sandwich plate.
I'll keep an eye on it, I monitored the coolant temp on my laptop yesterday whilst driving and it was cooling the engine nicely and stayed at a good temp

Weird how the oil wasn't getting up to temp with that fitted then, has it always done that?

It was getting up to temp but it took ages. It's spot on now mind

Little update, picked up another rocker cover from @Jamie_EK9 as I wanted to move my rocker breather outlets to the rear to tidy up the pipework a bit.
IMG_3085.JPG

and because it's red!
Had all the bits to do it so didn't cost me much at all.

Will monitor the catch can to see what affects it's has moving the breathers, if it causes issues I can put the other one back on and weld in some extra baffle plates.

Got to love the red though :nice:

Cant wait to see it at jf!

Updates....
A couple of weeks ago My thermostat decided not to open at all which caused the engine to get a bit hot!
I replaced it with a genuine Honda thermostat as I found it was the best value for money and is a decent quality item.
The previous thermostat was a gates that I put in less than 2000 miles ago.

I was then able to take the car on another run down to @jesse888 for another tuning session.
We had some fun this time
We are now tuned up to 1.25bar, Man it is quick now!!! To say I'm happy with it is an understatement.
It pulls like a train and around 6-7.5k it really hits a sweet spot.
Rev limit is now at 8900rpm and is approximately 1.1bar at the limiter.
The drop in boost at high rpm is most likely down to the manifold restriction but I'm very happy for now.

On the way home though I did notice a manifold blow.
IMG_3141.JPG

Can you spot the problem? Lol
The manifold to Turbo flange gasket was no longer there! Burnt somewhat....

Luckily my friend at work had an nice thick T3 flange gasket in his toolbox! Cheers Brad!

I got this fitted at 5pm the day before Japfest, headed down and found that the gasket must have been blowing towards the end of our tuning session as I was now hitting 1.42bar!
I adjusted the controller back down to 1.25bar just for safety.

Japfest was good fun, was nice to see familiar faces and see everyone's cars.
I didn't get to meet everyone unfortunately. Sorry if I missed you.

Not sure if I'll attend any more car shows this year......

Got some Trackdays booked though! Brands this month and Snetterton in July.

Yeah im not sure how we managed to miss that exhaust blow tbh lol

I know lol It's so much quieter now.
It was almost like running a screamer before in comparison!

Cars looking sweet man, glad you got the issues sorted easy enough. Need to get mine sorted so I can get out on track before the summers out too!
