I have the option of getting some Spoon springs for my DC2. But when I take a look at the spring rate the rear springs are quite a bit less stiff. They are 15% less stiff. While the difference in numbers on the stock setup are very small. I am afraid of getting a more understeering DC2. Can anyone tell me what they think?

What might be throwing you off is the spoon springs have a propressive rating. I can confirm from a set I put into a 98 spec dc2 they won't by themselves cause understeer. Defo worth getting a proper alignment do after fitting

Also note that OEM type R spring rates are lineair in the front and progressive in the rear.
Spoons are progressive front and rear.So you can't really compare the spring rates as the progressive ones get higher the more they are compressed.
I have the spoon progressive springs on my civic EJ9 with koni yellow shocks and it handles very good.I might even upgrade the front springs with lineair springs from a MG ZS to get the same type of springs as oem Type R.
MG ZS (1.6 ,1.8 or v6 ) springs are also a very good upgrade lowering springs that doesn't cost much ,even new from MG.
