Well. Not really. Depending on whether the owner specifically maintains his car at the official dealer or not. Most regular car owners who don't do tuning will have their car history punched into a computer at the auction house before it's purchased by a dealer and get shipped over to you. As most used cars in Japan almost certainly change hands at a car auction, the amount of inspection it goes through to ascertain the condition is ludicrous. Japan is also famous for producing loads of paperwork for nothing. So the pile of paperwork you have could be shipping tax claims invoices, recycling fee returns, auction paperwork and dealer forms.

I suppose that there isn't anyway to find out the history now. Chances are that if your car came stock, then its been in good hands. If you are really concerned then scan the stuff and mail it to me. I will be able to tell you what it all means. I myself have dealt with car auctions before.

The EP3 was the poorest selling Type R of the entire series. Simply because Japanese enthusiasts are are big on specs. The EP3 didn't have Brembos and it had less quoted power and was heavier. They also think that the EP3 wasn't hardcore enough and many bought the DC5 R instead for this reason. I know a few blokes who have one though and they seem happy. They like the Civic's roomier interior and gear shift.

As for the FD2, its been getting rave reviews as the return of the true Type R. Although now a saloon, the handling and power out paces the DC5 R and they make this very obvious in magazine and official reviews. Its been selling very well so far. A little more expensive than the DC5 but I see a lot of mid-30s family men who have most probably owned an old school Type R like ours before driving one. They see it as a perfect all rounder that will keep their wives and themselves happy.

thanks for the translation :D
