my drivers side front caliper the slider on the bottom is seized just wondering how i would go about repairing them ? or would it be easier to get a new caliper , any help appericated

I rebuilt mine with a rebuild kit from tegiwa for about £30, it can be a little fiddly but much better than forking out for a new caliper. Only took 2 hours to do in all. Well worth it.

Just one side. That was the rears, they should stock front rebuild kits to. Usually its just a few packs of grease and some rubber seals. Sounds more daunting than it is rebuilding it.

Yeah ive rebuilt all my calipers and it is fiddly, to get the piston out at the front you will need compressed air or a grease gun to push the piston out, please dont put your fingers in the way whilst doing it. A g clamp is also handy for getting the piston back in evenly.

If the piston pushes back in without too much effot don't worry about removing it to replace seals.
As for the slider, just bash it out and file all the flakey rust out of the cylinder and off of the slider. Cover in grease and reassemble.

Depends on the condition of the piston, personally Id use it as a reason to upgrade the brake setup.

But in regards to rebuilding, I did mine was great but then started to get a tiny bit sticky again after sitting with the handbrake on, this is the rears though. I'd replace now, renown for sticky rear callipers our little honda' are too so not long till they become a pita too.

Got ek9 front pair for sale?
£75 before delivery, recently rebuilt with new seals

:nice: that with an ek9 master cylinder and a set of a mg zs rear with some fresh discs and you're sorted man. We've all done it and its the best thing I did to my ek4 so far out of everything!

Really easy to rebuild don't waste your time buying another set.if it's just the slider all you have to do is take it apart, remove the crap built up in there slaber it in grease and assemble it again it takes about 15 mins or if the piston itself is stuck buy a rebuild kit. Compressed air isn't needed, helps but I managed all mine with a pair of vice grips and a lot of force lol

so you reckon just to take apart the slider clean all the inside and use grease ? il give it a try anyway !

Yes just do the slider. If the piston behind the dust cover is rusty then just get a recon unit. But normally the recon don't come with sliders.

got the slider out eventually with alot of force , got rid of the corrosion and cleaned inside and out . afterwards i noticed that there was a small hole in the rubber of the slider . (caused it to sieze in the first place by letting water in) any idea where to pick these up besides buying a full rebuild kit ?

Also, don't use copper grease on the slider pins. Red rubber grease is what you need.

...if you didn't know ;)
