S2000 Cluster/general wiring question

Hey guys - firstly a fore-word and apology as I know the topic of S2000 cluster conversions has been beat to death, and I know there are heaps of threads around (not that I haven't searched - most threads are really old and pictures are broken) but this is more a question for the auto-electricians out there, from someone who knows nothing about wiring and wants to save money on buying a kit for $300+.

I was hoping to create my own harness to be able to use an S2000 cluster in my EK civic, and have acquired pinouts of both cluster diagrams to do so. Is wiring it up a matter of connecting corresponding wires from the EK loom to the S2000 cluster?

For example, if the left turn indicator on an S2000 dash is the green/red wire, would I need to just find the same wire on the EK harness that does the same thing and splice/solder them together? Going by this analogy I'd say a green/red wire from the S2000 cluster would need to be spliced/soldered to the green/red wire on the EK connector (which is also the left turn indicator).

Obviously if I could get an S2000 cluster that will come with the connectors/pig tails that would be ideal but I'd imagine unless it's a wrecked/absolutely mangled car the owner has no intentions of re-using, most people won't want to hack into their loom.
