Rob's EK9 Progress

Cheers Matt. Yeah have been toying with the idea of getting the arch gap down a bit. Enjoy the OEM ride too much tho! Lol but never say never.

You gonna make it to the meet at the end of the month?

Yeh that's why i said just do springs 30mm coilovers are crap for every day nah cant do Sundays would have if was sat afternoon also the barge wouldn't be allowed in with hondas lol

Yeah Coilies would be too harsh. Unless I keep the banger I've got at the mo for most of the daily rubbish. But we'll see, got plenty of other bits I wanna sort out 1st.

It's not a barge! lol Will need to sort another meet before Japfest and on a Saturday! Especially as your not going this year.

This update is a bit late but I did only get the Nine back on the Friday! Paint guy took his sweet time with it but totally worth it!

Had the trim recess touched in as the paint had cracked from some ingress, where the trim had been put on last time and chipped away the paint slightly.

the rear arches got checked and re Shultzed

Bonnet got painted.

Then I collected it on 11 April :win:

Very happy with it.

So the weekend meant I could get stuck into sorting some other jobs. Relocation of the washer jets.

Decided the best place would be on each corner so the spray wouldn't be blocked by the wipers themselves.

Sprays right across with plenty of coverage.

Fitted a fresh sunstrip as the old one was getting tiered and flaking off in places.

Then set about giving the rest of the body work a good going over as I hadn't yet decontaminated it from the winter months.

So claybar'd, Meguiar's Paint Cleaner, and quick coat of Colinite

New bonnet badge is soo red!

And today I set about removing the wheels ready to hand over for a refurb this week. And will give me a chance to clean out the arches and generally check it over.

Thanks all :nice:

God, I wish I could put as much effort you have into mine. Are you refurbing the wheels in the same colour? The paint job looks minty fresh! I should use him for my future respray!

Cheers Ally. Yeah going for champ white again. Will tidy the center caps myself as they're only bad on the edge. He is very good, even lets me hang around while he's doing bits. He gets all his work from word of mouth which is quite unusual these days.

Tidy 9er!! :)

Cheers :nice:

Thanks everyone. :))

Couple more updates on the way. If your with me on instagram then you'll already know.

Ok a bit late with this as the wheels where on a 3 day turn around. So I've had them back a while now.

Sealed them up with some nano coating to keep them looking good for longer.

While I was waiting for the wheels to be done I started to mask up and paint the edge on the center caps. The paint had started to flake away.

Carefully masked to the nearest brake point to make it easier to blend it in with the rest.

So gave it day to dry out and peeled the masking off. Little before and after. Spot the risen edge of paint that's left and the finished one below.

After the edge is smoothed off it just needs a polish to bring back up to a good shine.

All 4 done!

all back on

Finally got hold of a show plate mount so the number plate can easily be tucked away for shows and cleaning. Seems lazy but will save me taking the screws out each time and means it won't rub anywhere on the bumper.

Finally sealed up the BWR LCA's ready to go on next week, hopefully. Had these since xmas so will be nice to finally get them installed.

Will have more updates soon for some Japfest prep. Thanks all

Thanks guys :nice:

Bit more has happened over the last week. I got busy with DA polisher and set about removing the fine 'swirls' that had accumulated over the last couple of years.

The rear boot badge had some funk under there that I couldn't get to. So it had to come off! Will replace this with a new one soon as it has started to fade a bit.

Also gave the rear window a quick polish while I was there.

Much better!

A Couple of days a go I made a start on the engine bay and the front section behind the bumper. It had all seen better days.

Rusty edges everywhere! was not looking good.

So got it all apart and got busy with the sandpaper, wire bush and the dremel. Removed as much rubbish as I could and cured the rest.

Then applied a handful of layers of Zinc Primer.

Left side of the engine bay was looking well worn.

Managed to get a good amount of champwhite on there between the sunshine and showers.

Currently left as it is. The weather has been utter crap today so I haven't been able to finish the top of the slam panel. So I will have a very busy day on Friday trying to finish painting and getting it back together in time for Saturday! :nerv:

Thanks all as always. More soon!

nice work good bits goin into it did u notice any gain off the mugen rep?

It certainly felt better with it in. Hard to say if it really made a difference but the car felt better to drive and has a slightly nicer/louder induction tone.
