Hi everyone.

Very long time no see, I still browse the forums occasionally but don’t say much these days

Anyway, cutting to the chase. I’m currently in the process of rust proofing my EK9 in all the areas I haven’t before. Mostly round the front end and under the sills etc.

Under the drivers side front wing, above where the arch liner sits, there’s an awful lot of rot on this piece of box section next to the strut tower. Ive

Anyone know what this box section is called or know if I can get a repair section? I’m going to go ahead and cut it out, plate it and weld it up otherwise unless I can get the complete section then I’d just break the spot welds and weld in a complete new piece.

Got a track day soon but it can wait until after then if need be.

Cheers!

Probably need to just patch it out. Unless you can get a donor shell and drill out the spot welds and transfer the bits.

Only panels I've seen you can buy are the rear quarter sections.

I had also only seen arches and sills before now but it turns out you can or could buy these box sections. Found on Lings, called a “wheelhouse”.

Discontinued in most places it looks like. I assume the EK4 chassis used the same as I can’t find anything for an EK9 as usual. They look exactly the same.

Part numbers are 60614-S04-300ZZ drivers side and 60714-S04-300ZZ passenger. Just have to get hold of one now if I can.

I can get these in from Japan, DM me bud :)

Take it to a classic car resto shop. Pretty sure that can be sorted in situ. Only way this could of been prevented is to use cavity wax on inner box sections etc.
Has car been ran without arch liners ?

Decent will do! I’ve also asked Honda themselves about sourcing them.

Yeah was just going to cut a section out and weld a fresh piece in paint it up and then cavity wax all inside it. I did have the car under sealed about 5 years ago and cavity wax up inside all sorts of places, but they didn’t remove any arch liners etc. so this got missed. The sills and floor are absolutely solid.

I’ve never ran the car without arch liners in my 7 year ownership. However, the liners haven’t been in the best of shape in more recent years due to age and I actually have new liners here to go on it when I’m finished. My guess is all the crap off the roads has made it’s way up above the liner into this box section and rotted it over a long period of time to this stage. It rarely sees the road nowadays. Only done 2000 miles over the last 2-3 years and most of that was on tracks.
