Is it possible to remove the front subframe with the engine still in the car? I know the rear mount will have to be removed but what else is there stuck to it? And would the other two mounts hold the engine safely while the subframes out?

When we did mines just supported the engine with a piece of wood on the jack and removed the rear mount like you've said. From memory, you need to remove the front lower wishbones, power steering lines and droplinks if you plan on dropping the rack and ARB with the subframe (which is what I would do).

The 2 mounts will hold it fine, it will just rock backwards and forwards a little.

If you've still got your torque mounts then you'll have 4 mounts holding up still.

I've had 1 mount and a jack before now so you'll be fine

A friend of mine did the swap last year with the engine still in the bay. Just remove the tie rod end, LCA, steering column, rear mount, power steering hose.
